Decks will be judged on their creativity, originality, and how well they combine two unexpected themes."},{"insert":"\n\nThere are nearly unlimited ways to play Magic. Whether you like small creatures, big creatures, controlling the game, or racing to its conclusion as fast as possible, there's an archetype that supports what you want to do. In many cases, these archetypes also overlap, especially in Commander. Elf decks are often also ramp decks, token decks, and sometimes even storm decks. Zombie decks are usually aristocrats, artifact decks usually sacrifice their stuff. But what happens when you try to combine two archetypes that don't normally go together?\n\nBuilding an archetype you know well with an unusual twist is a great way to keep your decks feeling fresh without having to abandon your favorite cards. Enchantress is known for being storm-adjacent, but could also support a reanimator strategy with Animate Dead effects. Or there are powerful artifacts to support planeswalkers, so what if you added a little more artifact support to your Super-friends deck? Like Voltaic Key to untap The Chain Veil and make more mana from Chromatic Orrery.\n\nCombining themes is also a great way to experiment with an archetype you're not familiar with yet. Supporting artifacts with another archetype can help determine if you want to invest in some of the expensive artifact synergy cards like Krark-Clan Ironworks or Mycosynth Lattice. Alternatively, this can be a fun way to modulate your play experience. If your playgroup is tired of your lands deck comboing off every game, you can replace some of those combo pieces with Death Baron and Hordewing Skaab to win with Field of the Dead in a different way.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"How To Participate"},{"insert":"\n  Brew an EDH/Commander legal deck on Archidekt that satisfies the prompt."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"  Any unreleased cards spoiled during the contest’s duration are allowed."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"  Silver-bordered and acorn cards, while cool, are not allowed."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"  Digital-only cards (such as those designed for the Alchemy format on Arena) are not allowed."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"  Strictly one deck submitted per user."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nAs of last month we've also revamped the submission process.. Two Untapped Non-Blue Mana (Archidekt Deckbuilding Contest September 2025) (Wernog + Elmar)

{"ops":[{"attributes":{"underline":true,"bold":true},"insert":"Two Untapped Non-Blue Mana"},{"attributes":{"header":1},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":" A Non-Blue Counterspell Focused Control Deck "},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nThe creation of this deck is simple, we took an archetype that is fairly popular, \"control\" or \"counterspell tribal\" if you will, and recreated it with the omission of blue. Blue has always been considered a \"bad\" color because of players get their spells countered. So I asked myself \"can we make a counterspell deck without blue?\", leading to the creation of this deck.\n\nPeople don't expect to get Mana Tithed, or Imp's Mischief, and when they do expect counterspells, it's not from the player not playing blue. Those are the two themes of the deck, control, a popular strategy, with the omission of the color Blue. \n\nWe are using the friends forever commanders with both Wernog, Rider's Chaplain accompanied by Elmar, Ulvenwald Informant. The decision for these commanders is two-fold. I wanted to include every color that wasn't blue, opening up our options for weird off-color counterspells, and because of the efficient value these two create. \n\nFor starters, Elmar and Wernog create Clues, a consistent amount of them to keep our hands full for interaction. Elmar is great for this, as we plan to counterspell, not everything, but enough to hit that Two-Spells for turn cap to provide us more clues. \n\nThis deck boasts over 20 non-blue counterspells, or counterspell adjacent cards. Most are very situational, but can protect our plan throughout the course of a game. We have somewhat of an artifact and spellslinger sub theme, which is why I included more token producers and clue synergy. Alot of the best clue synergy's do come from blue, but we have ways to tap them for mana, crack them for free, or animate them as game-enders. \n\nDisplaced Dinosaurs is great card from Doctor Who, as it is one of the only Non-Blue artifact animators, and can as it can turn out entire board into dinosaurs to swing out and kill our opponents. Agent of the Iron Throne provides some burn damage, and because we have two commanders, that's two damage per non-creature spell. I have also included Rampage of the Clans as a wincon, destroying all of our clues at instant speed before our turn, so we untap with a bunch of 3/3's. This is mainly meant to be a lower power deck, but fun nonetheless. It should always give the pilot something to do. With steady card advantage, artifact production, and digging through our deck for a win-con, it is fun to play and something different then what you would normally see. Counter spelling opponents without blue is one of the funniest things we might be able to do in Magic, and hopefully will make our opponents laugh more then be salty about having their spell countered. \n\nI offer this deck as my submission for the September Deckbuilding Contest. \n \n\nJ Mcmahon\n\n"}]}

Fishy Flashy Clues, Where Are You?
Created by: friscomm

{"ops":[{"insert":"Something fishy is afoot on Ravnica and Lavinia is on the case! With the help of a flash of genius or two, she’ll put together the clues bit by bit and then solve the mystery in one fell swoop. Will it be death by a thousand clue-shaped cuts or a flood of fishy friends? You’ll just have to play the deck to find out.\n\nYes, this is indeed a deck that attempts to blend the archetypes of clues and “fish” kindred (which notably isn’t even a kindred theme option on EDHrec!). The connective tissue here is in the “flash” elements, as Lavinia wants you to play on your opponents turn and there are several fish that also care about doing exactly that. Tidal Barracuda is one of several flash enablers in the deck, while both Wavebreak Hippocamp and Stinging Lionfish care about casting at least one spell on each opponents’ turn.\n\nAt least being the key phrase there, since Lavinia’s other standout ability earns you a clue each turn you cast a second spell. As it so happens, several of the recently released jellyfish creatures from Edge of Eternities also care about casting two spells a turn, including Uthros Psionicist that gives us a whopping 2 generic discount on each second spell we cast. \n\nTo round out the fish-forward theme, Sigiled Starfish and Plagon, Lord of the Beach are our two starfish representatives, with Plagon playing especially well with the deck’s plethora of toughness-greater-than-power creatures.\n\nThe deck does have some win-cons in addition to the flotilla of fish, namely animating the suite of clues that are ideally building up bit by bit over the course of the game. Whether with Cyberdrive Awakener, Tangletrove Kelp, or Rise and Shine, our clues can become potent attackers out of the blue, or can act as a win condition with their mere existence with Mechanized Production. The former two are both artifacts that a trio of artifact tutors can get when the time is right, or those same tutors can juice our second-spell shenanigans by fetching potential big ramp artifacts in Inspiring Statuary and Five Hundred Year Diary, or Vedalken Orrery as one of the deck's key flash enablers. \n\nAs a deck that's trying to win out of the deep blue sea, we need some additional protection elements, and so the deck also runs both Ghostly Prison and Propaganda and a pair of Gomazoa (Zendikari jellyfish) to help deter attackers while we build up our board. The combination of Cynette, Jelly Drover, and Wonder can also ensure that our fish don’t just swim to victory, but fly.\n"}]}
