{"ops":[{"insert":"Selesnya sucks. It's fine for newer players, but veteran players just find token, lifegain, and +1/+1 counter decks uninspiring. And that's really all Selesnya has to offer. Sure, there are a few oddballs, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Saffi Eriksdotter"}},{"insert":", but they're few and far between.\n\nWhile on the hunt for an underplayed Selesnya commander that actually seemed interesting to build, I stumbled upon "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Selvala, Eager Trailblazer"}},{"insert":". Sure, she does make tokens, but they don't have to be the focus of the deck, nor should they be. She obviously wants nontoken creatures to be cast, she wants creatures with a diverse range of power, and she rewards you with a potentially large mana ability.\n\nWhat can you do with this extra mana? You "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"could"},{"insert":" go the traditional Selesnya route, and use it to cast big creatures. But why tap her out on your turn to cast a creature when her mana can be tapped at instant speed? Could I build a control deck with her? You bet your ass I can.\n\nControl in Selesnya is quite limited. Since you don't have access to the traditional counterspells found in blue, you're stuck with few options, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Reprieve"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Bind"}},{"insert":". Don't get me wrong, I think they're great spells, and I've included them. But to really make this work, I needed activated abilities of creatures that cost mana. That way, I could hold up a protection spell if needed, and if not, Selvala's mana could be tapped for a surprise power and toughness pump from "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Veteran Beastrider"}},{"insert":", a creature from "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Loot, Exuberant Explorer"}},{"insert":" or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Elvish Piper"}},{"insert":", or a finisher from "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Shaman of Forgotten Ways"}},{"insert":". I could also dump that mana into utility lands like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Bonders' Enclave"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Fountainport"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Gavony Township"}},{"insert":", or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Restless Prairie"}},{"insert":".\n\nThere's also the option of going nuclear with creatures like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Magus of the Disk"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Kalemne's Captain"}},{"insert":", but there's less risk involved for me than you may think. For one, I've completely omitted artifacts and enchantments from the deck. With access to land ramp in green and a strong desire from Selvala for creature spells, I didn't really see a need for artifacts or enchantments. The other reason why nonland board wipes, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Ondu Inversion // Ondu Skyruins"}},{"insert":", aren't very threatening in this deck is because of how much protection I'm running. Since the "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"only"},{"insert":" permanents in the deck are creatures, I was sure to have plenty of instant speed protection, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Make a Stand"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Duty Beyond Death"}},{"insert":". If you pair up a board wipe, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Hour of Revelation"}},{"insert":", with a protection spell, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Unbreakable Formation"}},{"insert":", you've just cleared the entire board of everything but your creatures. That's the real secret tech with this deck, keeping your creatures protected while clearing the board so they can attack.\n\nBeing able to cast artifact/enchantment wipes like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Fade from History"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Bane of Progress"}},{"insert":" is very liberating, knowing that you won't share the inconvenience. I didn't bother including targeted removal for them, since wipes are the most efficient way of removing threats in a four player game and maintaining your control over the board.\n\nWithout artifacts in the deck, ramp is reliant on creatures and sorceries. I've skipped over 2 mana ramp, instead focusing on 1 and 3 mana ramp. That way, the ideal start can go turn one mana dork (6 are included), turn two land ramp for 3 CMC (7 are included), and turn three having access to five mana. Mana will snowball quickly once Selvala is out with a few creatures at her side.\n\nCard draw for the deck comes in many different forms, spanning across 30 cards. Cantrips, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"To Arms!"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dismantling Wave"}},{"insert":", quickly replace themselves. Creaturefall cards, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rumor Gatherer"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Beast Whisperer"}},{"insert":", take advantage of the high concentration of creatures in the deck. Consistent draw engines, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Bennie Bracks, Zoologist"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Leinore, Autumn Sovereign"}},{"insert":" keep the cards coming on a per-turn basis. Explosive draw comes in the form of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Shamanic Revelation"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Disciple of Freyalise // Garden of Freyalise"}},{"insert":".\n\nThere is also a clever untap package in the deck, which lets you reuse Selvala's ability, along with others. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Saryth, the Viper's Fang"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Seeker of Skybreak"}},{"insert":", and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Drumbellower"}},{"insert":" can consistently untap your creatures. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Village Bell-Ringer"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Djeru's Resolve"}},{"insert":", and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Gift of the Viper"}},{"insert":" can catch your opponents off guard, allowing you another round of Selvala's mana ability. Finally, "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Wirewood Lodge"}},{"insert":" is just straight up broken with Selvala.\n\nThis is the sort of commander that makes your opponents dismiss your strategy as just another Selesnya go-wide deck. What they'll be surprised to find out is how one-sided board wipes will become and how much you'll be able to do on their turn, at instant speed. I hope you found this unique approach interesting enough to try for yourself, or that it inspires you to create your own unique Selesnya deck.\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"hi hi! this deck was inspired by a Phelddagrif deck I took apart, a Sheoldred, The Apocalypse deck I love too much to take apart, and a \"One With Death\" deck I never built. \n\n\n\nThe idea being that the feels bad (>_< ) parts of group hug (just in my experience not everyone's) are when somebody can take advantage of mana and playing free things way better than everybody else. The feels bad ( >_<) part of Sheoldred, The Apocalypse is being punished for drawing cards. The feels good (^_^ ) part of both is actually drawing cards!\t\t\n\n\n\nThis one deck slams the three decks together, focusing exclusively on everybody drawing a ton of cards... BUT BEWARE! You're expecting Psychosis Crawler, Scrawling Trawler, and Helix Pinnacle to be our outs, but they are FALSE wincons! Keep up the illusion by giving everybody cards until the real win con you've been digging through all those cards for is in your hand: Hivemind. Get hivemind into play and then cast any spell with \"you lose the game\" at the end of it, and watch your opponents \"lose the game\" effects resolve before yours would! If anything goes wrong, use our ramp package pieces that can search for any land to find Hall of Heliod's Generosity or Ishgard, the Holy See to bring Hivemind back and try again. If all else fails, do a double surprise and attempt to turn all of that happy card draw into a getting archi-decked nightmare (>!<)\n\nThank you for reading :3 hope you enjoy!\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"What’s the scariest thing that can happen to you while playing Commander? Not being able to play Commander.\n\nThis Y’shtola deck ensures just that, by resolving a Smothering Tithe + Stasis as soon as possible, locking your opponents out of the game. If that’s not a Jumpscare, I don’t know what is.\n\nWhile opponents may see Y’shtola in the command zone and think she is there to draw cards and drain the table, her presence is merely a color identity enabler. Her abilities are a bonus, not the core strategy.\n\nUsing the deck’s ample tutor suite and Y’shtola’s triggers, find the combo pieces as soon as you can. Once resolved, opponents will eventually be unable to pay for the Smothering Tithe, netting you a treasure token on their draw step. On your next turn, sac the treasure to pay for the Stasis.\n\nUse any other treasures to cast your own spells, getting new treasures each turn. Rinse and repeat until your opponents either concede or lose to Thassa’s Oracle/Tainted Pact.\n\nAnd the casting of All Hallow’s Eve is just icing on the cake. Happy Halloween!\n"}]}
