If there’s no creatures to target then we won’t be able to cast most instants from our hand let alone our graveyard. Luckily for us there’s generally 3 opponents in a game of commander and usually there’s at least one slamming creatures every turn. In the event that there’s multiple opponents with limited creatures or players are out of gas after a board wipe the best thing to do is to dig through your deck for either Bolas’s Citadel, one of your infinites, or one of your x-cost spells. Save what removal you have to recast draw spells from graveyard, otherwise only play them if you have extras or the creature threatens to put you in a losing position. Be greedy with any card that can give you multiple Toshiro triggers at once, try to milk as much card draw out of each one as possible. Forbidden Orchard is your best friend in these situations.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Aggro Decks-"},{"insert":"\nMost of the time these decks are creature based which is great for us. We have a plethora of cheap board wipes which puts us in a great position against these decks. If the player is focusing you use your removal aggressively. If their deck needs their commander to function or really threaten you kill it on sight. Even if they can play it again you’ve effectively slowed them down a turn or two which will help you stabilize. Don’t worry about value right now, you can always replay your cards later and be careful with your self damage, there is a lot in the deck so play your cards wisely.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Combo-"},{"insert":"\nIf the combo deck doesn’t rely on creature, good luck! Draw for your combo pieces and hope you hit them first, otherwise attack them early and often. If they’re in blue and are holding cards and mana it’s safe to assume they have a counterspell. Try to bait it out with cards that are threats that aren’t necessarily needed to kill them. For combo decks that do rely on creatures, lol, kill the combo pieces. If they’re amassing resources assume they have protection for their combo pieces. Keep mana open for multiple removal spells when you think they might be able to pop off. Remember that if a kill spell gets fizzled or countered you won’t be able to cast from your graveyard so you’ll be more reliant on your hand in these situations.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Removal Heavy Decks-"},{"insert":"\nAgainst decks that can stop us from having creatures we’ll have to play smart. This deck has very limited ways to win that don’t require creatures: Onyx Infinite, X costs, and Revel. Outside of that we’ll need a creature to stick on the board for at least our turn, imp’s mischief will be your best friend allowing your to redirect two pieces of removal if necessary. Whenever your opponent is tapped out think of how you can best use the turn to further your gameplan or win. Against counterspells you’re out of luck. Your best corse of action is to bait them out with non-game winning cards or use imp’s mischief to retarget it to a different spell in the stack.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Other Decks-"},{"insert":"\nFor most other decks your gameplan is straight forward. Kill creatures that threaten you, use removal to recast your card draw, amass resources until you can win with one of your wincons.
