I decided to further restrict myself by only playing spells with a WUBRG colour identity and only playing spells that tap for all colours of mana.\n\nMost WUBRG spells these days serve as a tentpole for a 5-colour archetype, like Allies or Shrines. That made selecting cards for this deck particularly tricky, since the deck was only able to run those tentpole cards without any of the other support pieces or mono-coloured cards that benefit from the WUBRG centrepiece. As a result, the deck has wound up looking less like a streamlined deck and more like a Timmy’s dream 5-colour good stuff deck.\n\nHowever, there are two archetypes close to my heart that I have attempted to fit into the deck. Dragon spells like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tiamat"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"The Ur-Dragon"}},{"insert":", and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Scion of the Ur-Dragon"}},{"insert":" all provide excellent ways to search out other cards from the deck. Meanwhile, sliver spells like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Sliver Hivelord"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"The First Sliver"}},{"insert":" are strong enough cards that they can function on their own as well as synergise with other slivers in the deck. There are also a few cards that can help to support both typal synergies, including "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rukarumel, Biologist"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Morophon, the Boundless"}},{"insert":". The deck doesn’t quite run enough of either type for me to feel comfortable tagging the deck with either, but together the hybrid types make up nearly a sixth of the deck. \n\nBecause of the WUBRG restriction, very few cards in the deck cost less than 5 mana. That means you are definitely going to need ramp of some kind in your opening hand. Ramos can keep you going, effectively tripling your mana once he can see you cast a WUBRG spell, since that single spell will give you 5 +1/+1 counters that can be exchanged for 10 mana at instant speed without caring about summoning sickness. However, without ramp early you can expect to be doing nothing for the first few turns of the game.
