Description

{"ops":[{"insert":"ESIX, THE TOKEN COPIER"},{"attributes":{"header":1},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Esix, Fractal Bloom"}},{"insert":" is a fragile but an extremely powerful commander. It allows for a somewhat unique but powerful gameplay. The key in building a deck lies in understanding what exactly Esix does. \nWhile Esix is on the battlefield, when you create tokens (any tokens, even noncreatures) for the first time on your turn (so it doesn't work on your opponents' turns), those tokens can enter as any creature on the battlefield. So naturally the deck's strategy relies on producing tokens during our turn, and playing creatures that are worthy of copying. This deck needs four parts to function: heavy ramp to quickly cast our commander, protection to ensure Esix stays on the battlefield, cheap and reliable ways to produce tokens OR a way to produce a lot of tokens at once, and some kind of finisher in a form of creature to win the game.\nKeep in mind that opponents will quickly realize the power of Esix, and will try to remove it as soon as hits the battlefield. While this deck can quickly snowball out of control, be prepared to play the archenemy of the table.\nKeep in mind that this is not a completely optimized version of Esix. Some cards are here just because I like them and/or have them, others are donwgraded in order to balance this deck against my other decks, and so there can be made a lot of improvements. Consider this primer as a starting point.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"RAMP AND PROTECTION"},{"insert":"\nEsix is a pretty expensive commander, so we need to ramp quickly and to protect it. We are in simic colors, so ramp is not a problem, but since Esix can copy only creatures, our ramp package favors creatures, either with mana abilites like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Gyre Engineer"}},{"insert":", or with ETB's like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Solemn Simulacrum"}},{"insert":". Especially useful are creatures that make treasures or somehow can make mana from other tokens ("},{"insert":{"card-link":"Gilded Goose"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tireless Provisioner"}},{"insert":") since they are useful at any part of the game, both to faster play Esix and to create tokens so Esix can turn them into something else.\n\nTOKEN PRODUCING"},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"There are two distinct methods of producing tokens in this deck: small ones, which can reliably create (usually) one token each turn, and massive ones, which create a lot of tokens simultaneously but only once.\nThe most easy to create reliably are Treasures, Clues and Food. They can be created for almost zero additional cost with cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tireless Provisioner"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tireless Tracker"}},{"insert":". "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Lonis, Cryptozoologist"}},{"insert":" is a notable one because with Esix it basically allows to copy the first creature we play. Some cards in our deck create a token in addition to other effects (like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Crack Open"}},{"insert":"). Unfortunately, Investigate X effects don't really work with Esix, because they create Clues one by one instead of simultaneously."},{"attributes":{"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"With Esix even one turn can be enough to win , if a sufficient number of tokens are created. Cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Hornet Queen"}},{"insert":" put several tokens into play as one action, so all of them can enter as copies of something else under Esix (even Hornet Queen itself). "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Ezuri's Predation"}},{"insert":" will put the best creature on the battlefield for every opponents' creature (in conjuction with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"End-Raze Forerunners"}},{"insert":" this usually wins the game). Hornet Queen, Turntimber Ranger, "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Kozilek's Predator"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Master of Waves"}},{"insert":" - all can create an almost game-winning army just with an Esix on the field. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Wavesifter"}},{"insert":" with Esix can be cast just for its evoke cost and still net a flyer and 3 Clues, since evoke trigger can be resolved last, and one Clue token can enter as copies of Wavesifter itself. \n\nWINNING THE GAME"},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Usually our deck wins via combat damage, overwhelming opponents with value, but there are a combo there - "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Turntimber Ranger"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Maskwood Nexus"}},{"insert":". Turntimber Ranger is good by itself - creates a token on ETB, which under Esix can enter as copies of itself, so we will end up with 2 Rangers and 2 Wolf tokens. With Maskwood Nexus any creature entering our battlefield will trigger Turntimber Ranger - including its own tokens. So this combo will create infinite amount of tokens and make Turntimber Ranger infinitely powerful.\nUsual game-enders are "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Timestream Navigator"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Agent of Treachery"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"End-Raze Forerunners"}},{"insert":" - just copy them enough times. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Hornet Queen"}},{"insert":" deserves a honorable mention here as well, as it can create a lot of flyers even by itself.\n\nENDING THOUGHTS"},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"This deck requires a pretty good knowledge how replacement effects work in relation to tokens. There are a lot of small interactions, which can create many interesting gameplay situations (Lonis is especially good in this). As a Quandrix deck, there is a lot of counting and math (good luck trying to calculate how much elementals (and how strong) "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Master of Waves"}},{"insert":" will create with Esix and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Adrix and Nev, Twincasters"}},{"insert":" on the field). All in all, this is one of my favourite decks (I would rank it third after Yorion and Rose/Tenth Doctor), extremely fun both to play with it and against it, and pretty unique in what it does. Hope you will like Esix as much as I do!\n"}]}
