Note that I'm not including the life-gain lands here; tend to not like them unless you're working with life gain synergies, as the small bump in life can result in making you a \"stand out target\" that gets early aggression. \n\nUtilities tend to focus on 2 key utilities - interaction for lands, and interaction for graveyards. My personal guideline is to try and have 3 ways to interact with each of these resources as they can represent critical sources of value for an opponent. Being prepared for problematic graveyards and lands means a deck can usually hang with heavier hitting decks.
