Description

{"ops":[{"insert":"\nTaigam sat motionless overlooking an expansive valley surrounded by mountains similar to the one he found himself upon. As the sun rose behind him, the shadows below him began retreating, and the crisp air began to warm slightly. He had spent hours atop this particular mountain thinking deeply about how his fellow monks could continue their work; attempting to tease out the mysteries of time. \n\n\"You think in loops,\" a familiar voice called out, \"perhaps the loops themselves should be your focus?\" \nTaigam shifted slightly, turning his head to the left. He smiled as he saw a robed mage lean against a sturdy, brown staff.\n\n\"You'd do well to walk these hills more often, Teferi. You sound winded....\" Taigam said with a smirk.\n\n\"Hills?\" Teferi gestured around at the thousand-foot peaks, \"I think you and your monks spend a little too much time up here, the limited air must be getting to you.\" Taigam laughed and followed Teferi's gesture, taking in the wonderous snow-capped peaks that the ancient dragons of this plane used to fly between.\n\n\"You know, if I could only use the abilities you have, I'd be capable of communing with the ancient lords that used to call these hills home,\" Taigam said softly, his smile disappearing, \"In doing so, we could utilize their strength and wisdom to overcome what I can only imagine is one of the largest threats to not only our plane but the others you've spoken of. Teferi slowly nodded, as he moved up beside the monk.\n\n\"What makes you think you haven't mastered some of my skills yet?\" he said, looking down at Taigam. Taigam looked out again at the vast, ancient landscape. The morning sun was still rising behind him. The snow was still falling in some of the clouded areas below him. The sun's rays caught that snow as is flitted to the ground, causing the entire region around the cloud to glitter almost magically.\n\nTaigam smiled, recalling seeing this effect as a boy. He and his brother used to race to an open field whenever a storm was moving in so that the evening rays of the sun would cause this effect. In fact, every sunset would light up the mountain peaks and create this effect. A brilliant shimmer, followed by cool air as the sky grew dark.\n\n\"If I had, I believe I'd have noticed- \" he was suddenly silenced when he noticed that Teferi was gone. He quickly stood, suddenly alert. The setting sun was suddenly hot in his eyes. The storm was upon the mountaintop, causing the warming rays to darken, and the snow to shine. \n\n\"Teferi?\" Taigam shouted into the wind. Nothing came back as the storm began to overtake the peak. Taigam braced against the wind, his own robes straining against the cold. The sun was all but set now, but the snow continued to glitter; like stars that held no purchase in the night sky. \"Teferi!\" he called out again. The still snow seemed to warp and flash, parting way like a veil being pulled from either side. Large, clawed feet stepped through this ethereal void in the night, the snow all but becoming the very stars that paradoxically glistened above the mountain. Taigam glanced quickly to his left, seeing the setting sun through the storm that had broken, but the rays of light didn't make it past his own eyes, let alone disturb this strange portal that what could only be a dragon was stepping through. \n\nThe dragon's wings slowly flapped as it fully departed this void, finding purchase on the snowy mountaintop. Each flap seemed to coincide with the now distant storm's wind that had nearly knocked Taigam from his own peak. \n\n\"It cannot be...\" Taigam started. The dragon's head swiveled, his ancient eyes locking with Taigam's. He froze, feeling the creature's gaze pierce into him.
