Description

{"ops":[{"insert":"\"These beings, they wield such power...\" the mind mage thought as we watched spells resolve almost effortlessly into terrifying creatures. The unknown mage stood at the edge of a large cliff, watching battles unfold before him. He reached out with his mind, seeking answers to his nearly infinite questions.\n\n\"Who are you....\" he whispered into the ear of a presence he couldn't quite comprehend. A flash of memories swept through his mind, giving him a brief but illuminating preview of their desires and next few moves. \"Hmmm, you seek to destroy the others upon this plane. I don't think I'll allow that.\" His eyes flashed blue and instantly the spells that were on their way to wreak havoc on this world disappeared.\n\nThe targeted presence on the field took notice of this action, malice burning to the top of its mind. \"You can attempt retribution, but I wouldn't advize it\" the mage thought. As if responding to his warning, a ripple shot across the field he stood above. A massive creature began to appear, its resolution shimmering with the sun behind it on the horizon. \n\n\"Yes, that's what I need...\" the Mage's eyes again glowed blue as he reached out, tapping into the mana leylines that permeated this place. Before this nightmare of a creature began to resolve, the mage entered the mind of its would-be controller, and watched the magical summoning take place. \"I see...\"\n\nJust before the spell was completed, he took command of the spell, effectively ripping it free of its owners mind. \"Thank you...\" the blue mage thought, allowing the accosted caster to hear it clearly. \n\nMore malice eminated towards him.\n\nThe spell was now fully in his control, it's energy crackling at his fingertips. He smiled and sent the spell forth, completing the summoning that he had witnessed, and with a flash, the creature was his. \"Defend me\" he willed into this creatures mind.\n\nA third presence was now fully locked onto him. The mage tapped into the leylines again, following them through the plane. Many of them began to converge in a particular direction, glowing brightly, until-\n\n\"There you are\" he thought. This enemy presence had plenty of mana, and had now recognized this blue mage as the proper threat on this battlefield.\n\n\"Yes, \" the mage thought, \"The one without massive creatures of my own, without a clear motive, the one of us who were called here today that has done little but watch.... and learn.\" With eyes glowing blue, he projected this idea out onto the battlefield for the first time since the war began. \"Your mistake was letting me learn.\" \n\nHe felt the mana leylines begin to drain as this new foe began casting spells, each stacking up upon themselves, their power impressive- and lethal. The mage watched and waited as these spells continued to build, their swirling colors beginning to take shape, all aimed at him. The other two enemies watched, sometimes lending their own waning mana to this vortex of death, each realizing that the real threat had been in their minds the whole time.\n\nThe roiling vortex of spells had grown beyond anything a simple counter could stop; there were enough effects that even a few resolving would be enough to end him. Still, the mage waited silently, allowing this plan to come to fruition. He monitored the mana leylines closely, seeing them continue to flex and sputter until their glow softened and relaxed. The mana had nearly been completely drained, and this combination of spells was ready to resolve and end his existence. Each of the three beings turned towards the mage, their thoughts betraying them.\n\n\"I think we have him...\"\n\"He doesn't have much mana available...\"\n\"I don't trust this....\"\n\n\"No.\" the mage whispered into each of their minds.\n\nHis eyes glowing, he snapped his fingers and time stopped. The swarm of hostile spells, all aimed at him, shuddered, and then winked out of existence. He felt the shock and horror from each presence facing him.\n\n\"My turn...\" the Mage's eyes lit up brighter than before as the mana leylines became restored to their original glow. Each of the lines converged towards him, instantly embuing him with nearly paracausal power. An idea appeared in his mind, one that seemed.... beyond what was possible.\n\nThat didn't matter now. He tapped into his newfound power and spoke a single word,\n\n\"Omniscience.\"\n\nThe plane shuddered and there was a flood of knowledge- no, power, that rushed inward towards him. The mage floated into the sky, blue lightning crackling around him. Immidiately the thoughts of each other presence were loud in his head, thoughts of horror, feelings of anger, and worse yet, scheming to undo what he had just achieved.\n\n\"I can't allow that...\" With godlike control of this plane now in his command, he looked down towards the mana leylines that had been growing since the start of the war ages ago. \n\n\"Ah, yes....\" with barely an effort, his mind found each leyline in turn, their colors all flashing against his desire. \"You're not needed anymore.\" Each leyline shuddered, flickered, then snapped.\n\nThe power that was flowing to each of his opponents instantly vanished, and all of those thoughts; the anger, the schemes, the ill-intent, all fell silent.\n\nIt was over. He had control of this plane in its entirety now. His mind expanded beyond what he knew was possible. He had access to infinite knowledge, to see all outcomes, and knew of each presence before him. \n\nEach of the three presences looked towards him, waiting. \n\nNo, not towards him. Beyond him.\n\nA fourth presence emerged. One nearly beyond his mind's reach. The mage turned and looked.... outward. Not out of the battlefield, but out of the plane.\n\n\"Who are you...\" he thought as his mind locked onto this new presence.\n\nThis being began to ebb in and out of his mind's reach. The mage felt the other beings begin to waiver, their presence fading.\n\n\"What is this?\" The mage searched for answers, nearly causing him to miss the details of the plane beginning to dissolve around him. \n\n\"That was crazy\" one of the beings remarked.\n\n\"Yeah, that deck is busted, definitely S-Tier\" another said.\n\n\"Yeah, I wanted to put together the ultimate mind mage deck,\" the fourth player remarked.\n\nThe world was nearly gone around him as these strange words echoed in his head. With one last effort, he pushed his mind outward, hoping for a brief moment of elucidation before the end.\n\nHe saw it. \n\nDrinks. Food. A table. Four beings sitting around it, shuffling.... cards?\n\nWith that final image, the mage realized what it all was. \n\nWould he remember this the next time?\n\nAs it all went black, the mage whispered into the void,\n\n\"I will...\"\n\n"}]}
