It started as a meme deck; I thought Rayami looked quite bad, and it felt like a home for creatures that otherwise wouldn't see daylight in commander. It became more interesting with Ikoria and the Mutate mechanic, as a lot of them had keywords and extra abilities. Morph was part of the original shell of the precon she came in, but Manifest (and the recent \"Dread\" addition) lets you put indestructible creatures facedown to easily feed to Rayami. People also learn very quickly to not attack into a board of face-downs, because they don't want to grow Rayami. Opponents are also quite nervous to play out their stronger creatures, not only because they might give Rayami a powerful keyword, but because she shuts down any creature recursion.\n\nEarly game strat is to ramp up and put a couple of creatures on the board, to hold Rayami until you have some way to protect her, then to put her down and start feeding her, either through direct removal, board wipes or sacrifice. Prioritise Hexproof and Indestructible, then Lifelink and Vigilance, then Flying or Reach, but really just get whatever you can in the Blood Bank. She will almost certainly die a couple of times, if not to opponents throwing everything at her then to your own mass removal. Keep an eye on opponent death triggers; it's easy to forget that Rayami shuts these down, so no Skull Clamps or Morbid Opportunist triggers while she's around. Late game, you're looking for ways to increase her power; Blackblade is a huge swing in your favour, and Double-Strike equipment is the quickest route to the OHKO. Nyxborn Hydra is worth hanging on to into the late game.\n\nThis deck does not rely on your opponent having keyworded creatures; Double-strike and most variations of Protection are missing from the deck's creatures, but these are gravy and even potentially undesirable, otherwise keywords are accounted for in abundance.\n\nBe aware that if you absorb a creature with Protection from Sultai colours or creatures, you won't be able to mutate onto her, and the rare protection from artifacts will block equipment, so try to avoid putting blood counters on these creatures unless you think you can win anyway.\n\nYou're a bit weak to go-wide strategies, hence making Lifelink a priority to pad your life total. Other death replacement effects can interfere with Rayami, but this is only an issue if you want to absorb an opponent's creature for a keyword to which you don't have easy access. Edicts are a solid way to keep Rayami off the board. You have plenty of Enchantment removal for Grave Pacts and the like, but it's worth playing creatures out as sac fodder. If you come across this type of effect a lot in your playgroup, then consider Tamiyo, Collector of Tales as a way to protect your commander.\n\nSocially/politically, repeated play will establish that Rayami, is, in fact, the threat, that said it's quite easy to build a board that is unattractive to attack into yet not particularly threatening. Remember that allowing an opponent to keep a powerful game piece can draw attention away from you, so don't feel the need to spend your removal on things that don't directly impact you; politically, you're unlikely to score points by being a table-friend, so it's better to have a shared enemy. \n\nOne way Rayami can be kept in check is by preventing her from absorbing Hexproof and Indestructible, so make sure to only play these effects out if you're confident you can convert them, or have back-ups. Exile-based removal is a pain, so try to have ways to sacrifice in response. Settle the Wreckage and Aetherize-type effects are frustrating, but don't be afraid to make them have it. It's also really easy to lose to your own Rayami if someone gains control of her, so be very wary of blue decks for these effects. Hexproof is king.\n"}]}
