With "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rendmaw, Creaking Nest"}},{"insert":" on the field, we can tap "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Baba Lysaga, Night Witch"}},{"insert":" and sacrifice a bird and an artifact land (Over an artifact creature and an enchantment creature) to achieve the same value, only to play the land with the help of cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Crucible of Worlds"}},{"insert":", netting us neutral in board presence (since "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rendmaw, Creaking Nest"}},{"insert":" will trigger and give us a tapped bird) but draw a bunch of cards!\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":{"card-link":"Imotekh the Stormlord"}},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":" - "},{"insert":"Given that we're playing artifact lands from our grave and including numerous artifact recursive pieces, "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Imotekh the Stormlord"}},{"insert":" will thrive when on the field, netting us two additional bodies to protect us for when the rest of our opponents start getting annoyed with the sheer number of birds. Not to mention, numerous abusive combos synergize with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Imotekh the Stormlord"}},{"insert":", like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Junk Diver"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Workshop Assistant"}},{"insert":", and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Myr Retriever"}},{"insert":". \n\n"},{"insert":{"card-link":"The Gitrog Monster"}},{"insert":" - As we plan on sacrificing our lands to cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Baba Lysaga, Night Witch"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Krark-Clan Ironworks"}},{"insert":", and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Sylvan Safekeeper"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"The Gitrog Monster"}},{"insert":" will provide us with additional advantage in the form of drawing cards and playing lands. Since he also synergizes with sac lands, it felt like an appropriate inclusion.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Landfall Stuff:"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nI initially thought of cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Scute Swarm"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rampaging Baloths"}},{"insert":". However, I found that these cards could be quite clunky and didn't work as cohesively as I thought. That said, we are still running a couple of extra land drop cards and landfall payoffs. Keep in mind "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rendmaw, Creaking Nest"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Imotekh the Stormlord"}},{"insert":" are effectively getting landfall triggers when we play an artifact from the grave.\n\nCards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Exploration"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Azusa, Lost but Seeking"}},{"insert":" are no-brainers for extra land drops. I included "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tireless Provisioner"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Field of the Dead"}},{"insert":" as some decent payoff cards to help us ramp and to get us bodies.\n\nAs for playing lands from the grave, I opted to cut "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Conduit of Worlds"}},{"insert":" as it was just a more expensive "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Crucible of Worlds"}},{"insert":". I'd honestly run "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Perennial Behemoth"}},{"insert":", as it synergizes with our commander, and in a pinch, has an Unearth ability, which will trigger our "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Imotekh the Stormlord"}},{"insert":" and when we're done, we can sac it off for value. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Card Draw:"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nI'll admit, most of the dedicated card draw packages are just black card good stuff. However, I do enjoy "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dockside Chef"}},{"insert":", since he's an enchantment creature that will trigger "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rendmaw, Creaking Nest"}},{"insert":" as well as give us a sac outlet for our artifact and artifact lands! Other cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Pygmy Kavu"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Species Specialist"}},{"insert":", and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Toski, Bearer of Secrets"}},{"insert":" are phenomenal as we plan on giving our opponents black bird creature tokens (which will fuel "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Pygmy Kavu"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Species Specialist"}},{"insert":"), which will 99% of the time be tapped, giving our birds a window to get in some damage and draw some cards with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Toski, Bearer of Secrets"}},{"insert":".\n\nOther card draw engines include the aforementioned "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Baba Lysaga, Night Witch"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"The Gitrog Monster"}},{"insert":". \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Sac Outlets:"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nOur strongest sac outlet will be "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Krark-Clan Ironworks"}},{"insert":", as it will allow us to sacrifice our artifact lands for more mana and allow us to replay them (if we have a card that lets us play cards from the grave). I also thought that "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Baba Lysaga, Night Witch"}},{"insert":" would work better in a build like this as we can sacrifice an artifact land and a bird to fulfill her ability. We can then play the land later and get another bird, effectively making it a source of free card advantage (compared to sacrificing an enchantment/enchantment creature and an artifact/artifact creature). "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Sylvan Safekeeper"}},{"insert":" will give our commander protection from targeting as well as getting our artifact lands into the grave. Similarly, "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Constant Mists"}},{"insert":" will protect our life total (even giving us some political power) while putting artifact lands into our grave.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Recursive:"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nThe major advantage that artifacts have over enchantments is their cheap cost and how recursive they can be in an efficient package. There are obvious loops that we can use with cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Junk Diver"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Myr Retriever"}},{"insert":" in conjunction with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Krark-Clan Ironworks"}},{"insert":", but they can also grab us our artifact lands, making cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Crucible of Worlds"}},{"insert":" not as important (great if we have them, but possible to perform well without them).\n\n"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Reap"}},{"insert":" is a frankly ridiculous card. Our opponents can dismantle our board and we can drop a reap to get all our important pieces back for just two mana (so long as we give them plenty of birds in advance). Feel free to swap out a card for something like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Regrowth"}},{"insert":" or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Eternal Witness"}},{"insert":" for a means for infinite recursion.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Value Pieces:"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nThese are cards that net us additional value but aren't subject to a specific theme. You as player 1 pass the turn (your birds came in tapped and have summoning sickness anyway). Player 2 will have to swing their infinite birds at someone other than you. In this case, there are 2 scenarios; either player 2 kills player 3/4 or player 2 kills both players 3 and 4. If player 2 kills player 3, then player 4 will have to kill player 2 as there are no other available targets. The landfall payoffs help you maintain an advantage while consistently putting pressure on your opponents."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"While we have a dedicated infinite combo, each game feels different on how we get there, if at all. "},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Great against decks that like to play a little more reserved. The number of birds gives our opponents the means to apply pressure to someone else at the table."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"The deck is inherently recursive and can play through a couple of board wipes."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nCons:\nAgainst sacrifice strategies, we will be feeding them free creature fodder. Given that this landfall strategy revolves around artifact lands, we need a handful of pieces to set up. At minimum a sac outlet for our lands and a card that lets us play lands from the grave. Optimally, we'd like 1 or two additional land drop cards to give our opponents more birds. That said, I tried to only include the aforementioned card types which are most effective. I had to put it down when my turns would take too long and result in me accomplishing very little (just durdle). It's refreshing to see a deck that offers value from a similar trigger. It takes a mundane aspect of Magic and adds to it. While this build may not be playing a dozen lands a turn, my goal was to provide a consistent means to trigger our commander as often as possible, even if it's as simple as playing our land for the turn.\n"}]}
