This ensures each color plays differently, and allows players to express themselves through the cards they choose to include in their decks. Each of these identities can also be interpreted in different ways, which opens up many different styles of play even among the same colors.\n\nWith thirty years of cards to choose from, however, there's no reason to limit your deckbuilding to what the color pie says. Every year we get new cards that push and pull the colors in different directions. Can you build a WR landfall deck, or a RG control deck? What about a UR lifegain deck? You're not supposed to, but that shouldn't stop us from trying.\n\nThis is also a great exercise for a color you're very familiar with. Thinking outside the box is a great way to break old patterns and reignite a passion you might've lost. Similarly, this could be the perfect time to revisit a color pair you don't like. What used to be strange and unwieldy can become fresh and invigorating when approached from a different angle. {"ops":[{"insert":"https://archidekt.com/decks/11334303/blue_black_land_destruction\n\nNebuchadnezzar Land Destruction: Becoming King of the Universe by Destroying All\n\nWhen you sit down across the table from a Dimir player, you expect to not have a great time. Counterspells. Mill. Discard. Graveyard Manipulation. You expect the flow of the game to be controlled by your opponent manipulating your mind (library and hand) and dismissing what they can’t deal with (counterspell). \n\nBut what if The Unseen, the Tenth Guild, The Dimir—masters of shadows that they are—took on other ambitions? What if they not only attacked the minds of their opponents, but the very resources they need for survival. What if they took the phrase spoken of their guildhall—\"In the space where there is no room, in a structure that was never built, meets the guild that doesn't exist\"—to heart as they sought to take control of not just the game, not just Ravnica, but the very land itself.\n\nEnter Nebuchadnezzar Land Destruction or Becoming King of the Universe…by Destroying All. \n\nLand destruction is not at all prevalent in black and blue, so the challenge was fun to take on. First, Nebuchadnezzar was an obvious choice for the theme. His ability can force our opponents to discard several lands from their hand, destroying them before they can even be played. And while discard is absolutely a Dimir ability, how I’ll be using Nebuchadnezzar purely to remove lands from my opponents hands is a bit out of the ordinary (and often much crueler).\n\nThere’s some key players in this deck that are fairly obvious to anyone who’s played land destruction before. Wasteland, Stripmine, and Ghost Quarter are all here, along with their best friend Crucible of Worlds. But there are many, like the unseen Dimir, that remain hidden until the time is right. Take the Screaming Bell combo, where Kormus Bell, and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth turn our opponents lands into creatures we can easily dispatch with Screams from Within. \n\nThat mass land destruction is one of the keys to victory for this deck as well. One major issue land destruction decks often face is finishing off opponents. They’ll destroy lands and leave opponents with the choice of scooping or watching their opponent play solitaire until they can build back their board and win the game. As a Dimir assassin, this deck will look to finish off opponents quickly with cards like Bloodchief Ascension, draining opponents with each land that hits the yard. Pox and Tergrid’s Lantern (along with several cards that allow multiple activations of the Lantern, like Forensic Researcher and Unstoppable Plan) allow the deck to stay on theme, forcing opponents to sac lands, pay with their life, or both! There’s also a few ā€œfinishersā€ such as Stormtide Leviathan and Herald of Leshrac that provide quick win conditions, too, both remaining on theme for this land focused deck. \n\nOverall, this was a challenge to put together, but the result is a deck that’s mostly off-theme for Dimir in construction, but totally on brand for instilling opponents with fear at the sight o"},{"attributes":{"background":"var(--light-background)","color":"var(--color)"},"insert":"f the Unseen. Cats-matter is usually white and clone effects are usually blue or red. However, Ygra, Eater of All creates synergies that are the cat's meow. It incentivizes creating a lot of Cats and a willingness to expend them. After all, Cats have nine lives, so let's not waste a single one!\n\n(1) Cat All-Stars\nThese Cats are Ygra's best lieutenants. Qasali Slingers and Feline Sovereign destroy artifacts (i.e., your opponents' Food creatures) whenever a Cat enters or deals combat damage, respectively. Cauldron Familiar resurrects itself by sacrificing a Food (i.e., any of your creatures, even a clone token of itself). Esika's Chariot enters with Cats and clones them upon attack: both themes in one car(d)!\n\n(2) Cat Tokens\nJolrael, Mwonvuli Recluse, Jedit Ojanen of Efrava, and Penumbra Bobcat join the Chariot in making Cat tokens to copy. Use Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth or ramp an opponent with Yavimaya Dryad to take advantage of forestwalk! Waiting in the Weeds also takes advantage of the power of Forests to create a lot of Cats at once.\n\n(3) Cloning Creatures\nBut we are not restricted to copying vanilla Cats! Create token copies of your creatures to give more lives to your Cats. Notably, Nacatl War-Pride and Rakshasa Debaser clone themselves on their own, albeit temporarily.\n\n(4) Cloning Tokens\nKeep temporary tokens around and make more of the ones you have with these effects. (And don't let Hazel of the Rootbloom fool you; she loves Cats too.)\n\n(5) Cat Staples\nThese Cats perform the staple functions that every deck needs. Runadi, Behemoth Caller ramps. Skyclave Shadowcat and Keeper of Fables draw cards. Prowling Serpopard and Temur Sabertooth provide protection.\n\n(6) Cat Effects\nCats with enters effects, dies effects, or evasion are great to clone. Gloomshrieker clones get around its drawback and help recur your key pieces. Pridemalkin and Falthis, Shadowcat Familiar help Ygra get through opposing Food to snack on your opponents.\n\n(7-11) Ramp, Draw, Removal, Board Wipes, and Lands\nThe rest of the deck helps support this original Copy Cat plan. Inspiring Statuary is great when Ygra is out, turning our Cat Food into mana to pay for more Cats. In addition, Ashnod's Altar, as a free sac outlet, helps grow Ygra and pay for effects, like eating Food or cloning. (Look out for the secret recipe of Ashnod's Altar, Cauldron Familiar, Mirrorworks, and Ygra to show why it is bad luck for opponents to cross paths with these black Cats!)\n\nI'd love to hear what you all think, thanks for reading this far!\n"}]}

The commander is The Gitrog Monster - https://archidekt.com/decks/11322922/life _gain_draw \n\n\t\tThe Game plan is to draw into or tutor Psychosis Crawler, cast a card that prevents losing for having zero life, play a card like Necrodominance or \"Yawgmoth, Thran Physician\" that facilitates massive card draw in exchange for life, then burn the table with Crawler's effect.\n\n\t\tThe role of the commander is to draw extra cards while filtering out extra lands. The Gitrog Monster also allows for extra card draw if lands are discarded during the end step, but a large hand could still by playing cards like Thought Vessel, Decanter of Endless Water, or Reliquary Tower that grant \"no maximum hand size.\"\n\n\t\tMost of the deck's combos are very expensize because of high mana pieces or tutor costs so it includes pwerful ramp. \"K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth needs no explanation; Ashnod's Altar makes the tokens explained in the next paragraph very useful, as they can be sacked for two colorless mana apiece; \"Jaheira, Friend of the Forest\" also allows the tokens to tap for green mana; Pitiless Plunderer provides sacrifice payoff in the form of treasure tokens every time a creature is sacrificed; and The Golden Throne allows for creatures to be sacked for three mana in any arrangement of colors while also having the ability to exile it and prevent losing the game and instead changing our lie total to one.\n\n\t\tAn important aspect of card draw in black is that it requires either life loss or creature sacrifice, so cards life Bitterblossom, Black Market Connections, and \"Liliana, Dreadhorde General\" create token to use for sacrifice and blocking. Doubling Season, Parallel Lives, and Primal Vigor double token production and a second finisher, The Meathook Massacre, can win the game if enough tokens are produced (that's boring though). Cards like Liliana and Deathreap Ritual also add onto existing card draw when the price is sacking a creature.\n\n\t\tDamage from Crawler is amplified through the drawing doubler, Alhamarret's Archive, through the life loss doublers, Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Wound Reflection.\n\n\t\tNow for the fun part! As card draw is an atypical strategy for black and blue is not included in the deck, infinites are minimal. However, I was still able to find one game winning infinite combo. If Psychosis Crawler is on the field, an infinite loop can be constructed by casting Vilis, Broker of Blood, and casting Curse of Fool's Wisdom on yourself. Whenever you lose life you will draw a card, and whenever you draw a card you will lose 2 life and gain 2 life. Assuming there are enough cards in the deck to burn the opponents before drawing the whole deck, the game is won. I also probably missed some infinite sacrifice loops wth Chatterfang, but I wasn't sure how to make one that fit the card draw theme.\n\n\t\tLastly, the backup plan. in an unlucky game, it may take too long to draw or tutor for Psychosis Crawler. It is for this reason the deck includes cards like the aforementioned Golden Throne, Stunning Reversal, and Platinum Angel. These cards allow us to draw ourselves to death without losing the game, then exchange life totals with other players using Magus of the Mirror, Profane Transfution, or Soul Conduit.\n\nThanks to everyone who took the time to look at my deck!\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"Here is my Orzhov blocking tribal deck \"Hurt Me Baby One More Time\" with Killian, Ink Duelist at the helm: https://archidekt.com/decks/10253706/killian_blocking_tribal\n\nThe gameplan: There are two key types of blockers in this deck. The first type is to have creatures which can block additional/any number of creatures. Entangler is an all star in the deck. The other type of blockers come in the form of Stuffy Doll type creatures which deal damage to players when they take damage. These blockers are the primary wincon of the deck. \n\nAfter playing out some key blockers, the next goal is to create a deadly and impenetrable fortress by giving them indestructible/protection and deathtouch. Killian reduces the cost of many of these cards.\n\nThe glue that binds the deck together are cards which can redirect damage. Some notable inclusions are Pariah, Martyrdom, Channel Harm, Simulacrum and Saving Grace. Killian also reduces the cost of many of these cards. These cards mainly serve three functions: \n1) Redirect damage from a creature blocking a whole board of attackers to a stuffy doll type card.\n2) Provide an extra layer of protection against unblockable and evasive creatures.\n3) Enables the backup burn package for the deck by redirecting self damage effects to stuffy doll type cards in scenarios when people refuse to attack me. \n\nCard Advantage: There are some fun card advantage packages that work well with the gameplan. Court of Ambition, Protector of the Crown and Coveted Jewel incentivize players to attack you. The damage from Cruel Bargain, Caustic Bronco, Dark Confidant and Darkstar Augur can be redirected to the Stuffy Doll type cards. Then cards like Dregs of Sorrow and Parting Thoughts serve double duty as both removal and draw while also being discounted by Killian. In addition to these core packages, I intentionally chose many cards which cantrip out and are cost reduced such as Pentarch Ward, Necrobite, Dark Dabbling and Formation. \n\nWincon: Notably there are three tutors in the deck, Heliod's Pilgrim, Insatiable Avarice and Three Dreams. Since the deck is so synergy dependent/staxy/slower to win I included these in order to more reliably close out the game. This ideally leads to an all around better experience for everyone at the table. Giggling Skitterspike is an MVP in the deck as a blocker and recipient of the high density of spells which target a creature. Selenia Dark Angel is a self damage outlet which can close the game out with damage redirection. Vorpal Sword additionally serves as an alternate win con while also functioning as a deathouch giver. \n\nRamp: Catchup ramp package. Loyal Warhound type cards can serve as chump blockers which is nice.\n\nInteraction: Lapse of Certainty and Reprieve can stop a player from comboing off and serve as off color counterspells. Astarion's Thirst is cost reduced by Killian and can pump him up allowing him to swing in for significant lifegain to offset some of the self harm cards. Since the deck includes a bunch of ways to grant deathtouch, Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile and Nemesis Mask can serve as effective sweepers.\n\nWhy This Deck is Off Color/theme: \n-Looking at the top commanders on EDHrec the themes of Orzhov are almost exclusively represented by aristocrats and graveyard synergies. This deck is definitively neither of those. \n-Blocking tribal/themed commanders typically are found in green with cards like General Marhault Elsdragon and Lure type strategies. \n-White does have have some niche blocking synergies with bushido and Odric, Master Tactician but this deck doesn't care to use either of those strategies.\n-On EDHrec the decks which utilize Stuffy Doll type effects primarily focus on two themes: fight strategies in green/gruul and burn/spellslinger in red with commanders like Imodane, the Pyromancer.\n-Self damage themes are typically found in Rakdos and damage redirection in Boros.\n-Killian, Ink Duelist is near exclusively built as voltron and enchantress/auras on EDhrec. I chose to build off-theme on an already off-theme orzhov commander.\n\n\n"}]}

Another potential combo that arises from these untapping effects is the ability to loop creature etb effects as long as you have sac outlets, such as evolutionary leap or altar of dementia. there are also a couple smaller creatures like spore frog that sacrifice themselves for a benefit, allowing for added value by being able to loop with Othelm without any other support pieces. \n\nIn terms of removal, there is a very basic removal package with 2 board wipes, and small amount of targeted removal, but due to creature removal within the deck like bounty hunter or cankerbloom, this low number of removal becomes less of an issue.\n"}]}
