The more concrete your vision, the easier it'll be to find cards that fit.\nThis could be related to the art, such as including only cards that show a certain animal, or chairs. It could also be mechanical, such as requiring each card to reference the number four, or contain only prime numbers.\nYou could also think more abstractly. What would Twelfth Night look like as a Commander deck? What cards would you choose to represent your favorite vacation spot?\n\nFor the truly mechanically minded out there, combo decks aren't off the table for this challenge either. Since you're in Bracket 1 you can't include any two-card infinite combos, or tutors to help put the pieces together, this is the perfect chance to show off a convoluted combo that requires too many cards for a \"normal\" deck.\nExtra bonus points if your combo doesn't win the game, but creates a unique board state, or showcases a niche rules interaction.\n\nWhile the idea is important, the key to success with this month's prompt will be the individual cards you include. As many cards as possible should be included to support your theme or idea.\nScryfall is an excellent tool for finding the exact card you need. Unfortunately everybody stopped playing 60-card Magic, but then WotC blessed me with the perfect leader to convert my vision to Commander: Queen Kayla bin-Kroog.\n\nThis actually reflects the in-game story quite nicely, as Queen Kayla leaves New Yotia at the end of the Brother's War to venture West (!) across Terisiare in search of better horizons. We're never told what she finds there, but one could well imagine she finds a hootin'-hollerin' good time!\n\nThe deck contains a caravan of white creatures to represent Queen Kayla's band of refugees (plus a sentimental Bird Maiden - the card that made me fall in love with Magic) as they venture toward Remote Farms, Gemstone Mines, and Ghost Towns. The Native Peoples are represented by the Soltari, existing on a separate plane of existence from the Queen's intruders. And a handful of goblins and creepy Sisters of the Flame are sprinkled in to represent the dangerous outlaws who already lurk the wind-blasted streets. I very intentionally avoided art with medieval swords to amplify the vibe, which leans toward the Deadlands RPG \"Weird West\" with cards like Soul Separator and Ashnod's Altar.\n\nBest of all, the deck is a blast to play! Strap some flaming (Swiftfoot) cowboy boots on the Queen, grab her (Jandor's) saddlebags, and you'll be dropping Barbed Wire and Sandstone Deadfalls in no time. Once your graveyard has been loaded up, cards like Ancestral Tribute and Planar Birth create huge moments for the table.\n\nAnd you want win cons? We've got (Exhibition-level) win-cons! A ghostly Spirit Cairn can make tons of flying cowboy ghosts, or hand a railroad (Quietus) spike to a shadow creature and start nailing your opponents down to size. Of course, my personal favorite is always set up with the perfect question --\nMe: \"Anybody here see that old Will Smith movie, Wild Wild West?\"\nThem (every time): \"You mean the one with the giant robot spiders?\"\nBOOM, Psychosis Crawler (lolz).\n\nI built this exact deck in paper, but ultimately felt like I needed to kick it up ANOTHER notch by proxying these exact cards with Doomtown-style poker values in the corners:\n"},{"attributes":{"link":"https://imgur.com/a/OF8XCLR"},"insert":"https://imgur.com/a/OF8XCLR"},{"insert":" (noting that this screenshot is 2 years old, so the deck has evolved slightly since then as we've gotten new retro cards!)\nHearts are for the creatures, colorless Diamonds are perfect for the artifacts, plus Spades for enchantments and Clubs for sorceries/instants - and of course, Kayla is our Queen of Hearts. The poker value is the card's mana value, which serendipitously makes the deck smoother to play, as I just have to do a quick hand-fan looking for red suits and then pull an Ace, 2, and/or 3 for each round of Kayla, instead of doing the mental calculations of mana values every time.\n\nAnd finally, for anyone curious, I love this deck so much that I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my huge dissertation of optimization math for Queen Kayla on Reddit: "},{"attributes":{"link":"https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/14flkrp/"},"insert":"https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/14flkrp/"},{"insert":"\n\nTo me, this deck's art, mechanics, and story combine to form the ultimate embodiment of the Exhibition Bracket. This deck is loaded with high mana cost creatures that are typically easier to cast than their mana value makes it seem. In addition to these high cost creatures is a ton of recursion to bring these big bags back out. Some examples are: Shadow of Mortality, a 15 mana cost creature that is 1 colorless cheaper for the difference between your current life total and your starting life total. Writhing Necromass, a 7 drop that is 1 less to cast for each creature in your graveyard ( which is one of the harder ones to cast for the amount of recursion in the deck.). MarshMist Titan, another 7 drop that is X less to cast where x is your devotion. Ancient Stone Idol, a 10 drop with flash that is 1 less to. cast for each attacking creature. Torgaar, famine incarnate, an 8 drop that is 2 less to cast for each creature you sacrifice while casting. Avatar of Woe, an 8 drop that is 6 less to cast if there are 10 creatures in total in all graveyards. Gorex, the bombshell, an 8 drop that also receives a 2 cost discount for each creature you exile on cast. The question that I'm sure is on everyone's mind is \"how are we going to sacrifice that many creatures? \" or \"how will I have 10 creatures attacking to cast ancient stone idol right away\" This deck not only has recursion and high mana creatures, but it also generates multitudes of tokens, I mean what else are we giving that X/X base power? Liliana , Dreadhoard General, Army of the damned, grave titan, triplicate titan, abhorrent overlord, endrek sahr, master breeder, Pawn of ulamog, and ghoulcaller gisa will all be growing a massive army to swing wide once we get the base power we want this turn. Worried about not losing enough life to efficiently cast Shadow of Mortality, we have bolas citadel to cast things off the top of the library by paying life to do so. \n\nThis deck will be a lot of fun to try out, and I Hope you all will take a moment to view it. Please give me any suggestions on how to make it even better!\n"}]}

I run a higher power version of this with combos and tutors and I was excited to make the adjustment of removing all that for this contest. \n\nAs I said, the goal of the deck is to fill the board with Seven Dwarves, so of course we’re playing 7 copies of that card. We want to be using Riku’s effect to make token copies of Seven Dwarves, which we then make more copies of with cards like: Rite of Replication, Quasiduplicate, Doppelgang, Brudiclad, etc. We will also try and double up on Riku triggers with Harmonic Prodigy and Roaming Throne. This is important in helping us find Seven Dwarves, finding the cards we need to dig and find them, and more swiftly filling up the board with dwarves.\n\nTo do all that effectively, we need a lot of ramp to ensure we have the mana to cast and copy big spells (looking at you Rite of Replication and Doppelgang), and the card/draw selection to actually find Seven Dwarves and other token makers/enhancers. With that in mind, nearly all of our card draw and ramp effects are on cards that can be copied with Riku. We do run one tutor, Imperial Recruiter, but its sole purpose is to find a couple copies of Seven Dwarves. Our protection also keeps Riku in mind as we play several fogs that have additional effects that benefit from being copied such as Arachnogenesis, Galdrhim Ambush, and Jaheira’s Respite. The fogs are additionally important as I expect more combat focus in this bracket since we're operating without fast /easy combos. \n\nTo win, our line is to make a TON of Seven Dwarves and bust through battlecruiser boards with big and tall friends or find an Overrun effect. We can also do some silly things with Brudiclad (turning ALL tokens into 7 dwarves) and Enduring Courage, which gives haste and +2/0 to our tokens (which can also be copied for some big silly boards). \n"}]}
