The mechanic? Big numbers. As in, really, really big (though technically finite) numbers. The key behind its strategy is using its commander - Niko, Light of Hope - to make Shard tokens into copies of permanents whose static effects stack quadratically or, even better, exponentially with themselves. But there's a catch - some of the best of these effects are creatures, or otherwise are legendary. So to that end, it also has a few tools to manipulate card types of permanents and ignore the legend rule as well. {"ops":[{"insert":"As someone who uses playing the game to cover up for my crippling shiny cardboard collecting addiction, I love the idea of alternate arts. Not the most beautiful ones always, but the nuanced or fun ones. Whether you were playing 30 years ago with Fallen Empire and Alliances or started 6 months ago with Duskmourn, you've seen cards that come from the same set but have a change to the art. This deck celebrates that, short of the Commander, who I simply chose for his many faces and names throughout the years. These cards are either art variants from older sets when Wizards would print the same card with 2-4 arts in one set or cards like the Lurking Evil variants in Duskmourn and the hidden clue variants of Murders of Karlov Manor. Some of these would be more fun in a multi-card format where you can have their variants all next to each other, but in Commander, any 4 of us could build this same deck and there would be almost no way to build the same art variants and we would be able to play SPOT THE DIFFERENCE!\nhttps://archidekt.com/decks/11748705/spot_the_difference\n"}]}
