The more concrete your vision, the easier it'll be to find cards that fit.\nThis could be related to the art, such as including only cards that show a certain animal, or chairs. It could also be mechanical, such as requiring each card to reference the number four, or contain only prime numbers.\nYou could also think more abstractly. What would Twelfth Night look like as a Commander deck? What cards would you choose to represent your favorite vacation spot?\n\nFor the truly mechanically minded out there, combo decks aren't off the table for this challenge either. Since you're in Bracket 1 you can't include any two-card infinite combos, or tutors to help put the pieces together, this is the perfect chance to show off a convoluted combo that requires too many cards for a \"normal\" deck.\nExtra bonus points if your combo doesn't win the game, but creates a unique board state, or showcases a niche rules interaction.\n\nWhile the idea is important, the key to success with this month's prompt will be the individual cards you include. As many cards as possible should be included to support your theme or idea.\nScryfall is an excellent tool for finding the exact card you need. {"ops":[{"attributes":{"underline":true,"link":"https://archidekt.com/decks/11766962/mtg_tarot_deck"},"insert":"The Rider-Waite EDH Deck"},{"attributes":{"header":1},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nThe deck I am submitting is a deck inspired by 56 minor arcana of the commonly-used Rider-Waite Tarot deck - commonly used across a litany of media as a metaphorical tool. The general premise of the deck is to attempt to translate each Suit (Cups, Pentacles, Swords, and Wands) into a color from Magic The Gathering (Blue, Green, White, and Red respectively). Each suit has a king, who is their specified win condition, and the cards in each suit, in addition to representing their respective tarot cards, are also tasked with contributing to the alternative win condition the King has assigned them. As a brief rundown - \n\nCups are associated with emotions, intuitions, and a great inner understanding of your mind. I associate those types of effects in MTG with card draw (see cards like Opt, Consider, or Clear the Mind), and winning through card draw is heavily in Blue’s piece of the color pie - thus, The King of Cups is represented by Triskaideckaphile, who is about balance the amount cards in your hand to exactly 13. \n\nThe Suit of Pentacles is the Suit of Wealth, associated with opulence, work, and prosperity. To me, pentacles are about having a wealth of resources at your fingertips, and while they could be translated to being a suit about treasures, I moved a bit broader and made it the “mana matters category”. With Pentacles being associated with Earth, they are best suited to be represented by Green mana, with Helix Pinnacle serving as a way to win the game through an abundance of generated mana through either land or treasures.\n\nSwords are a suit of ruthlessness and action, associated with the element of Air. They are double-edged, and can be either constructive or destructive - for me, this made them a perfect fit for White, whose strict rule-following can make them both heroes and villains. For me, Felidar Sovereign made a perfect King of Swords, standing regally above all before it.\n\nFinally, the Suit of Wands is associated with creativity, passion, and the element of fire. This made it a good fit for Red, where creativity is often expressed - particularly through the creation of artifacts by artificers and inventors. Hellkite Tyrant will serve as the King of Wands, allowing us to win the game through a collection of all of our creations.\n\nThe deck is helmed by Kynaois and Tiro of Meletis, who play into each of the gameplans, bringing us to a total of 57 non-lands, a decent ratio for a commander that gets lands out of the hand. Ultimately, I don't think the deck ends up being very strong, despite some powerful inclusions, simply due to the fact you are being pulled in 4 different directions to win, with ultimately not a large amount of overlap. If you'd like to see a more in-depth take as to why I included each card or how they represent the specific tarot card, I've created a Google Doc breakdown below (but beware, it's a long read, and I haven't had time to properly phrase everything in it). \n\nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1n2cmMasihRBduCW0gjm_Q0Ym5NLZbcaPujEKk7hf4LM/edit?usp=sharing\n\nFinally, I'd like to note that the deck has had the converted mana costs changed - this is so that each category can be sorted descending from King to Ace, as a regular Tarot Deck might be. This does throw off some statistics about the deck, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a better way to do it - it should lead to an easier viewing experience, being able to directly follow along with the document or any tarot descriptions you may choose. \n\n"}]}

I have this deck built in paper and people seem to enjoy seeing it and trying to figure out what's wrong with every card. I have the full list of errors in the description. I tried to balance playability of the cards and the variety of errors. I originally had the lands as all basics and misprints but with how inconsistently the deck can play under its theme, it really needed a functional mana base.\n"}]}

The realization that attractions are technically artifacts inspired me to build this deck to be as thematically cohesive as possible while best amplifying all of the possible utilizations for artifacts (that I could find in my library). \n\nI thought that an artifact emphasis fit the space carnival theme nicely if imagined on a space station and manned by various mechanical assistants. \n\nThere is a lot of removal, but it is mostly intended to be used on Dee Kay, Finder of the Lost -- a fun thematic way to look at her removal is as if she has popped back into the lost and found to check in at the request of visitors. By focusing this removal on Dee Kay, Finder of the Lost, I am seeking to open more and more attractions upon her repeated reentry that can then be used for both their original intended purposes listed on each individual attraction card, as well as serve as catalysts for both triggered and activated abilities of other sources relevant to artifacts.\n\nThere is also an emphasis on dice rolling to offer additional opportunities to employ Dee Kay, Finder of the Lost's triggered abilities beyond just the upkeep roll for visiting attractions. This dice rolling further serves to thematically advance a carnival-style of play requiring a decent amount of luck and chance for best results.\n\nPlease enjoy a few giant images of some of the highlights:\n\n"},{"insert":{"image":"https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/1/7/171a969e-3d5e-4110-a770-4183c2a2710d.jpg?1673916605"}},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"color":"#000000"},"insert":{"image":"https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/0/5/05e6a7bc-a35a-4e68-99a0-be264553b5de.jpg?1673914032"}},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"color":"#000000"},"insert":{"image":"https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/9/1/91562ab3-1153-48d9-9f8e-4c79155548f2.jpg?1673915585"}},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"color":"#000000"},"insert":{"image":"https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/5/a/5a651c53-b345-482b-b732-f0a5098068c3.jpg?1673915780"}},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"color":"#000000"},"insert":{"image":"https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/9/9/9904ef62-3328-4474-a3b4-21428fb9d911.jpg?1701002818"}},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"color":"#000000"},"insert":{"image":"https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/6/9/69c35da2-7dc0-4901-ac44-5ed197e5ea43.jpg?1700489507"}},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"color":"#000000"},"insert":{"image":"https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/4/9/493341c3-1f59-4d7e-b852-1449a2333be9.jpg?1674074534"}},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"color":"#000000"},"insert":{"image":"https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/a/b/abc079b5-291d-466e-9f1b-baaf1079637b.jpg?1646363726"}},{"insert":"\n"}]}

What this deck does is simple, it replaces boring, old, duplicated counters and counter synergy cards with all new (or very old), unique counter types. Everything gets a counter, and no counter is repeated. You have Slime Counter and Wind Counters and Omen Counters. You have +2/+2 Counters (yes those exist), Brain Counters, and Eyeball counters. And don't worry, players are not left out as well, picking up Energy Counters, Experience Counters, and sometimes Poison Counters. Offering 72 unique counters, you can count on no two games ever being the same! Infuriate your opponents by making sure to explicitly track all counter types while making them appreciate this unique aspect of Magic's history, whether they want to or not.\n\nNow that the sales pitch is out of the way, here is a more straightforward description of the deck. Every non-land (and some land) card in the deck produces a counter of some kind. Furthermore, every counter is unique, meaning that once it is used no other card is allowed to use that counter, even if that card can produce a different counter. For example, including Tendo Ice Bridge means that no other card can use Charge counters. When multiple cards shared the same counter type, I tried to pick the one that felt most unique, rather than the best card. For example, choosing Gutter Grime over Toxril, the Corrosive for Slime counters.\n\nThe complete list of counters the deck can produce are: +1/+1, +2/+2, -0/-2, -1/-1, Aim, Arrow, Arrowhead, Brain, Brick, Charge, Chorus, Coin, Corpse, Cube, Depletion, Divinity, Doom, Dread, Elixir, Energy, Experience, Eyeball, Filibuster, Flood, Flying, Foreshadow, Hit, Hoofprint, Hope, Hour, Ice, Incubation, Indestructible, Influence, Judgement, Lifelink, Lore, Loyalty, Luck, Menace, Mining, Night, Oil, Omen, Paralyzation, Plot, Point, Poison, Quest, Rad, Revival, Shield, Shred, Slime, Soul, Spore, Storage, Study, Stun, Suspect, Task, Time, Tower, Treasure, and Unlock.\n\nI hope that you enjoy playing this deck, and remind you to bring enough dice.\n\n"}]}

I actually used this exact combo to climb into top 50 constructed DCI rating for constructed back in the early 2000s (Greater Good Gifts), and every time I see Hana Kami I get a big smile on my face. If I could use Hana Kami as a commander, I WOULD!\n\nBeing that commander is usually a 4 player game you can't fog EVERY combat until 1 player would be eliminated. Cards required for this peaceful soft lock include: Hana Kami, Ethereal Haze, Death Denied, Soulless Revival, and Kami of False Hope. The Onna tribe was another one of my favorites back in the day, and I had to bring them along for the ride, too! Of course we had to bring along the Kodama's... and all 3 Iname's made the list.
