You may include lands to cast your commander, but spells and abilities must not require the color you're omitting. For example, if you choose to build an Izzet deck with Eshki Dragonclaw as your commander, you cannot include any cards that require green mana to cast or use, but you can include green lands to cast Eshki. As always, decks will be judged on creativity and originality."},{"insert":"\n\nThis contest prompt is inspired by the growing list of commanders that don't require all of their colors to be cast. Commanders like Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, Keruga, the Macrosage, and Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second can all helm decks that leave out one color in their identity. Two color decks often have cheaper mana bases, or you might prefer how a deck with fewer colors plays. Some of these commanders also naturally push you to prioritize one color over the others. An Alesha deck with no other red cards can more easily optimize it's mana base to pay for her activated ability. On the other hand, you can build Simic Yasova Dragonclaw to play the rare theft deck without red.\n\nOf course, you can choose any commander for this challenge, not just ones that abridge their own mana costs. This is a great opportunity to push strategies outside of their normal colors while having support from a strong commander. Nethroi, Apex of Death can lead a Selesnya reanimator deck, or a Golgari aggro deck that cheats its smaller attackers into play en masse. Raffine, Scheming Seer could make for an interesting Orzhov or even mono black tempo deck.\n\nPerhaps the easiest route to take is to choose a commander that doesn't need to be cast at all. You can easily build a deck of any color with The Ur-Dragon, and Oloro, Ageless Ascetic has been helming mono white lifegain decks for almost as long as Commander's been around. These commanders tend to be more specific to a creature type or theme, however, so building a creative deck that stands out will be more difficult.\n\nHow To Participate"},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Brew an EDH/Commander legal deck on Archidekt that satisfies the prompt."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Any unreleased cards spoiled during the contest’s duration are allowed."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Silver-bordered and acorn cards, while cool, are not allowed."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Digital-only cards (such as those designed for the Alchemy format on Arena) are not allowed."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Strictly one deck submitted per user."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nReply to the Archidekt newspost, or submission post on the Archidekt Discord with a link to your deck before "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"9:00 pm EST (UTC -5, currently)"},{"insert":" on "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Wednesday, April 9, 2025"},{"insert":" (do not submit the same deck in multiple places).\n\nOnly one submission per user! This deck is fairly simple: burn for at least 3 damage a turn, to as many players as possible! For each player burned, we force them to either discard a card or to give us a draw, acting as a pseudo draw-engine. The Rakdos color pairing works perfectly to ensure ample burn damage, as well as payoffs such as Bloodchief Ascension and Waste Not and finishers like Descent Iinto Avernus and Exsanguinate. We are running plenty of one-sided boardwipes, such as Delete, Their Name Is Death, and Exterminate! to provide easier access to our opponent's life points for our Dalek army. I hope you enjoy this list, and thanks for taking the time to read this!\n\n"}]}

We can also animate the millennium calendar with a animation piece and use voltaic construct to untap it and double counters. Can't generate infinite mana, no problem just swing with a heavy hitting construct, or play stax to keep opponents from winning. If you preffer a more casual approach you can substitute the stax pieces for more heavy hitting artifacts and protection for your existing artifacts, such as platinum angel, which prevents you from losing while you pull of a win.\n"}]}

Bring in bigger goblins and throw them at more annoying things. Get bored of throwing goblins? Throw a mountain. Lots of flying goblins, lots of ways to bring in goblin tokens, a bit of tribal but not too much cos tickling players to death with tiny projectiles is more fun. It's red so there's some artifact hate, and there's some choice artifacts to add to the amount of projectile gobbos. \n\nTo unlock the true potential of the deck, just effortlessly draw half a dozen cards I totally justifiably left in. Bring out the Frantic Scapegoat, gift the Frantic Scapegoat to a friend or enemy. Goatnap it back, and then throw it back at them, telling them, actually, they can keep it for a game-breaking 4 damage. Just unstoppable and will clearly happen without fail in every game.\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"\"What do you mean I'm supposed to play coloured spells?\" -Ooops no colours"},{"insert":"\nhttps://archidekt.com/decks/12284668\n\nSo, when I read the prompt I started looking at the commanders that first came to mind where you had \"optional\" colours; New Capenna second-in-commands like Jinnie Fey, Ognis and the rest, Kenrith and anything that was just colourless in the cost, like Urtet. But while that's staying true to the \"letter of the law\", as it were, it's not staying true to the spirit. I then just looked at random commanders to get inspiration when I happened on a mono-coloured commander. I then said \"Well that wouldn't work, then you can't play "},{"attributes":{"italic":true},"insert":"any"},{"insert":" colour... Then you could play colourless...?\" And thus, This deck is \"Colourless\" Eldrazi but with a singular mono-green pip in the command-zone. Ramp out with colourless ramp and play huge Eldrazi that, thanks to Runadi, our commander get even bigger, and some even get haste... That is terrifying... Stomp on your opponents with the biggest and the baddest without playing any coloured spells (other than your commander)!\n"}]}

"},{"attributes":{"header":1},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"https://archidekt.com/decks/12282389/the_twelfth_doctor_graham_obrien_russian_roulette\n\nCommanders: The Twelfth Doctor + Graham O'Brien\n\nThis is a Russian Roulette deck! It relies on The Twelfth Doctor's Demonstrate ability to force a selected opponent to copy spells cast from exile. Randomness is provided through Discover and Cascade cards (which Graham loves, to help pad your life total). Broadly, 1 in 6 spells (i.e. nonland cards) are Roulette Losses.\n\nThe proper way to play this deck (which also creates maximum fun and jank) is to follow a self-imposed rule to always Demonstrate the card that is cascaded into or discovered. For example, if it's a Show and Tell, then there will be 3 of them on the stack for everyone; if it's a Pact of Titan, you and the other player will both have to deal with the upkeep triggers to not lose the game on the spot (most fun when they aren't in these colors). In short, as the deck pilot, you can choose who you'd like to play Russian Roulette with, and you are obligated to accept the results of the spin... Good or bad.\n\nRoulette Loss spells include the two Pacts in Izzet, extra turn spells like Alchemist's Gambit that "},{"attributes":{"underline":true},"insert":"lose the game on end step"},{"insert":", crippling effects like on Soulgorger Orgg, effects that help other opponents more than they help you and your roulette partner, and massive burn spells like Molten Psyche or Delayed Blast Fireball.\n\nRoulette Win spells include Mana Vault, Show and Tell, and any of the several card draw + treasure production spells (e.g. Unexpected Windfall and Big Score).\n\nRoulette Mid spells are generally utility cards, spot removal, and artifact tutors (see next paragraph).\n\nCards tagged Roulette Dodge are included to allow you to survive through the Roulette Losses that you're Discovering or Cascading into. There is a small 2-mana artifact tutors package in the deck to help you find Sundial of the Infinite to end the turn in response to some of the worst triggers.\n\nRoulette win/mid/loss are tagged from your perspective, not your roulette partner's.\n\nA Flash package is added so you can cast cascade and discover spells on others' turns for more roulette spins!\n\nHappy spinning!\n"}]}
