Especially for commanders that easily support multiple themes, I invariably end up with a pile of 150 cards that all support different strategies.\n\nInstead of having to put all those extra cards away, why not set them aside to swap in later? This let's you easily test different versions of your deck, or just quickly vary the play experience from game to game. Especially for themes that have significant overlap, like Enchantress, Tokens, and Lands, you can also shift the primary focus of your deck from one to another to stop a deck from ever feeling stale.\n\nA transformational sideboard could also be used to help match the power level of a given pod. When playing at a local game store or convention it's helpful to be flexible with the strength of your deck. Swapping in or out Game Changers, or just adjusting some of the more focused cards in the deck to match a more relaxed pod.\n\nThis also saves space compared to carrying around multiple decks, and is a great approach for rediscovering the magic in an old favorite by reintroducing old cards you cut for upgrades.\n\nTaking this concept as far as possible, you could even swap your commander for a different one, along with a set of cards to better support them. This is a great way to get extra mileage out of an expensive mana base, compare how two similar commanders actually play, or get even more variety in your games.\n\nAt its most extreme, you could change both the commander and theme of your deck, functionally fitting two decks into 120 cards. One configuration, Minuscule, just wants to spit out as many artifact tokens as it can, making use of the servo part of fabricate and Cayth's ability to populate. It doesn't matter if you're making maps or thopters, Reckless Fireweaver hurts all the same. The other configuration, Modular, takes advantage of the +1/+1 counters side of fabricate and Cayth's ability to populate, building up +1/+1 and charge counters for value. \n\nThe rest of the deck attempts to support both halves. Most obviously this is through just general artifact support--Losheel draws from both servos and bigger creatures--but some effects try to work in different ways depending on what you're currently subbing in. Filigree and Steel Overseer, for instance, obviously inject counters for all the modular creatures in Modular, but also pumps the go-wide strategy of Minuscule. \n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"\"Echoes of the Deep\" is a meticulously constructed Yarok, the Desecrated deck that thrives on overwhelming value through doubled enter-the-battlefield effects, with a transformational twist that pivots into a surprise mill-control strategy. The main deck focuses on synergy-driven ramp, efficient removal, and relentless card advantage via powerhouses like Mulldrifter, Acidic Slime, and Agent of Treachery—all magnified by Yarok’s duplication of ETB triggers. With a lean suite of tutors, recursive engines like Eternal Witness and Rise of the Dark Realms, and a resilient mana base, the deck scales quickly into late-game dominance. But what sets it apart competitively is its 20-card transformational sideboard: a full archetype pivot that removes go-wide token strategies and blink engines in favor of control tools like Damnation and Notion Thief, plus hard mill win conditions such as Thassa’s Oracle, Ashiok, and Bruvac-style recursion. This clever metamorphosis not only answers hostile metas but also weaponizes the element of surprise. Anchored by EDHREC optimization and backed by rock-solid formatting, this build exemplifies flexibility, creativity, and raw strategic strength—all under the command of Yarok, whose presence ensures that every plan hits twice as hard.\n"},{"attributes":{"link":"https://archidekt.com/decks/14385951/echoes_of_yarok_from_value_engine_to_lockdown_control"},"insert":"https://archidekt.com/decks/14385951/echoes_of_yarok_from_value_engine_to_lockdown_control"},{"insert":"\n\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"Decklist: https://archidekt.com/decks/14267818/deck_building_challenge\n\nFor this deckbuilding challenge, I created a decklist that changed commanders and color identity, and the commanders I went with are Teval, the Balanced Scale and Coram, the Undertaker.\n\nBoth commanders care about having a mill engine, but have different payoffs. Teval rewards recursion by creating 2/2 Zombie tokens when cards leave our graveyard while also providing landfall synergies. Coram grants card advantage whenever any player mills cards while also providing commander damage as a potential win condition.\n\nI tailored the Teval version of the deck towards a token strategy with some landfall synergies and some combo potential. The Coram version tries to take advantage of his power scaling ability to close out games through combat damage and cards such as Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord and Chandra's Ignition.\n"}]}

This side of the deck is about playing fair, honest magic, and winning through the combat step, the way that Richard Garfield intended. This sideboard contains a number of cards that, while powerful, tend to be telegraphed, and allowing opportunities for your opponents to interact with your board state before you can deal the finishing blow. \n\nAs a commander player, I value the flexibility of being able to play with a wide range of pods, so naturally, I have designed this deck to reflect that. I envisioned the Multani sideboard to be of a lower power-level. As stated above, Multani must win through the attack step, but Yargle has a few tricks up its' sleeve.\n\nWhile the Yargle sideboard can still win through the attack step, that's certainly not the oney way. We swap out Multani's suite of trample and go-wide token effects for sacrifice support and direct damage. Drawing inspiration from my Skullbriar deck, I've included a bevy of cards like Essence Harvest and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord to deal direct damage to the face. Many of these cards, namely Jarad, require you to sacrifice the creature, and we're in golgari, so the sacrifice theme came as a necessity. \n\nFrom playing my Skullbriar deck, I know all too well just how many cards this bad boy can draw *slaps roof of yargle.* There's no shortage of effects that let you draw from a creature's power, netting you 18 cards on a naked Yargle and Multani. EDHREC concurs with including phycosis crawler, because it's simply too good not to, but I wanted to find that secret bit of tech that you wouldn't find on EDHREC. Low and behold, I found it in yet another dork that could win the game with merely a ham sandwich: Syr Konrad. Sure, you can deal direct damage off of card DRAW, but all of those cards have to go somewhere, don't they? Unless you throw down a reliquary tower (which is included, but should be used responsibly), you're gonna have to discard upwards of 11 cards at the end of the turn. While not likely, that could be11 creatures, 11 damage straight to every face. I've also thrown in a Kozilek, Butcher of Truth. Not only does it protect you from drawing yourself into oblivion (which is a real threat), but when you discard it to hand size, shuffling your graveyard into your deck, you re-trigger Syr Konrad for every creature there. Beyond the gimmick, this deck can generate A LOT of mana, so casting Koziliek is also a very real possibility too.\n\n While these combos might seem farfetched without a suite of tutors to support them, they're not impossible to assemble with some consistency, given the amount of draw/recursion in the deck.\n\nThough their reasons are many for being included, Brawn and Filth are among the first cards that I included in their respective sideboards, because nowhere is the spirit/functionality of the deck more prevalent than in the subtle differences between those two cards (Life // Death is a close second).\n\nAs an extra bit of flavor/challenge, each of the sideboards is limited to their respective host's color identity (and golgari cards, because I couldn't not include Jarad).\n\nIf you've made it this far, thank you for taking the time to view my deck/read my ramblings. And thank you for the opportunity to participate. This challenge was a great deal of fun.\n"}]}
