This deck, with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Indominus Rex, Alpha"}},{"insert":" as the commander, was crafted to help my 8-year-old son learn and enjoy the game. He nicknamed it The Rex Suplex. It includes a variety of archetypes, deathtouch, trample, reach, etc., allowing him to explore different strategies and understand their unique mechanics around combat. The deck features mostly creatures with some spells, and enchantments. The creatures he can discard when he casts his commander to make it \"Super Stronk\" The spells and enchantments give him a taste of the casting speeds and a light amount of trigger effects from the enchantment spells. This combination ensures a fun and educational experience, giving him the opportunity to delve into more advanced strategies by casting creatures and learning their additional effects instead of just the architypes. I find this ideal for him so the deck can grow in complexity and combos with his understanding of the game. The deck initially started below $100, but as he played and improved it, he substituted in more valuable cards like Rhystic Study and The Ozolith, which I have marked in teal. {"ops":[{"insert":"For my submission I give you \"Everyone Gets a Counter\". This is a Green/White +1/+1 counters deck led by Hamza, Guardian of Arashin. This deck follows a pretty straight forward play style of making sure each of your creatures has at least one +1/+1 counter. Once each of your creatures has a counter on them, they will benefit from blanket effects from cards such as Abzan Battle Priest and Pridemalkin. to achieve our goal of giving all of our creatures counters we will take advantage of certain cards like Unbreakable Formation, that can put counters on all your creatures, or Renata, Called to the Hunt, that gives each creature a counter as they enter the battlefield.\n\nWith a deck cost of just under 60 dollars excluding basics this deck is relatively budget friendly. {"ops":[{"insert":"Dragons of Legend: https://archidekt.com/decks/6917470/dragons_of_legend\n\nThis is the first commander deck I made, only coming into reality a few months ago when I was debating what kind of deck to make. Since then I have replaced and upgraded many cards, culminating in it's final version here. I wanted this deck to have as many dragons as I could possibly fit in while keeping it competitive. More importantly I only wanted to use cards that I thought were cool, fun, and on brand with the deck. Almost all of the cards either are or directly reference dragons, but even the ones who don't still mostly have dragons in the card art too. There are a healthy balance of artifacts, enchantments, instants, and sorceries with the deck still emphasizing its 30 creatures, 20 of which are dragons and the rest of which support them. It revolves around treasure creation to cast as many high cost dragons as you can pump out, with added draws from legendaries with Dihada. I began by using some of the cards I already had to try to reduce cost, and I didn't use any extremely expensive cards, but it did end up being more pricy then I intended. I think it was a necessary step though, as almost every card has something unique and interesting going on with it. There isn't much of a game plan or combo strategy other than the dragon tribal synergies built into the deck, and while many cards have unique or interesting effects I doubt that most new players would be overwhelmed because the main idea is just to make big dragons and swing.\n"}]}

This is coupled with a defensive plan of showing the fog of war. We're so focused on one big attack that we need to live, after all. The way the deck wins is through getting Benton extremely large through various pump spells, and using the damage those grant you to accrue a large advantage.... Alongside one select opponent, which is where the politics and the fogs both come in. \n\nDid the player you juiced up become too big of an issue? \nMake a deal with a few friends at the table to knock out that player first, offering to eject them from the game if they use some of their removal on those pesky blockers. \n\nThat player decides to come after your new friends? \nMaybe have them get lost in a fog, and get even more favor with your new friend. \n\nYour new friends decide to turn on you because you're now the biggest threat after you dealt with the other threat? Maybe they can get lost in the fog too, or maybe their removal spells fizzle against your pump spells that COINCIDENTALLY also give hexproof. \n\nMaybe the best part of this deck is its resilience. A lot of newer players I've taught commander always feel really dejected after getting completely blown out by a board wipe and being unable to get back into the game. Benton will never let that happen so long as they have life points. Haste + Trample on a VERY cheap body mean worse comes to worst, you can play Benton and draw 2 cards. \n\n\nClosing thoughts: I absolutely LOVE this deck. It feels so good to play, it's really easy to grasp, and it teaches even experienced players I've handed the list to things about the politics of commander that they might not have learned otherwise. It's truly awesome, I hope some of you new players give this one a try! \n"}]}

This gives an path for future-Johnny's to start to see how cards can synergize together.\n \nFinally, for the Spikes of the world, the deck can run FAST. It can start swinging quickly for a large amount of combat damage. With the amount of mana dorks, you're almost guaranteed to have Raggadragga out by turn 3 and pump up mana dorks to attack with. It can definitely hold its own, and is solid enough to rebuild after boardwipes with its many mana dorks and high cost spells that help turn the tide, letting it hang into the late game.\n \nTo keep this a solid beginner deck, I've slightly over-indexed on extra non-dork ramp (basic rocks and land ramp cards) both to show examples other ramp sources and to provide an insurance plan if the deck gets hit with a board wipe and the player has overcommited to the board.\n \nSome of the draw is general green goodstuff draw, but several of the draw outlets are based on playing creatures, having large creatures (which Raggadragga helps pump creatures for) and for attacking/dealing damage. Again, we want the basic experience of the deck to reward players for doing the basic actions of magic. Play lands, play creatures, attack.\n \nLandbase is solid but can be upgraded. It features a lot of tapped dual lands, but also focuses on ones that provide some upside (even if minor like the lifelands.) These can be swapped out by the player over time and cannibalized for other Red-Green decks in the future.\n \nThe entire deck is cheap (approx $60) but can hit well above its weight class with how quickly the deck plays. It also isn't a fully solved puzzle, so a player can upgrade cards or swap out elements they don't like to double down on what they do like (each of those mechanics mentioned above could be further focused on to tune the deck.) The deck is also intended to be able to be deconstructed, with most cards being useful enough on their own or a staple that can slot into future decks.\n"}]}

(Who doesn't love bunnies?) This also gives a lot of board presence to the new player without them having to work too hard on it so they could have blockers while they focus on learning how to interact with the game.\nIn this deck, I also added a lot of ways to interact with other players things and ways to protect the large board of bunnies you create to help avoid feel bads from board wipes.\nNotably, I forced myself to limit this deck to two colors so that new players were not too overwhelmed with getting their colors and were able to hopefully always cast what they need to cast.\nThere are some unblockable enablers and a wide variety of card types to help the commander do her thing and teach players about the vast world of cards out there.\nThe final thing about this deck that I tried to build in was the idea of growth.
