I have taken that idea and added Tana as Prava's partner in the deck. As someone who has recently started playing Magic I completely understand the monetary barrier of entry this TCG has. The deck itself comes in at around ~120$ on CardKingdom and ~80$ on TCGplayer, not the cheapest, but certainly not the most pricey deck out there.\n\nThe deck plays relatively simply, the whole goal is to bring out anthems and your commanders, pump Tana to make tokens, and swing wide. If you follow curve, by the time you bring Tana out and swing with her you should have some sort of pump in hand or buff in play. This allows you to create a wide board relatively early of pretty sizable creatures, if Prava/Anthems are on board.\n"}]}

As a commander, he'll provide the new player with a consistent method to deal damage and impact the game, without necessarily requiring too many attacks - which can often be a social barrier for newer players. The deck is built around incremental lifegain, alongside some recursion, removal, and ways to get Gollum in for swings. \n\nAs far as being a deck for a new player, it has a few advantages. First, it's under $30 (at time of writing). Second, it requires no tokens at all (and only three cards need counters). Thirdly, being monocolored means that there's not a lot to worry about in terms of being able to cast cards so long as you have the mana for it. Only needing to hit each other player once makes things easier to track for the new player, and, again, lessens the need for attacking at all. It has a relatively low curve (2.6 MV), so the player ought to be able to cast something on most turns. {"ops":[{"insert":"Tatyova Benthic Druid - "},{"attributes":{"link":"https://archidekt.com/decks/8731360/sea_lands_draw_cards"},"insert":"Sea Lands, Draw Cards"},{"insert":"\n\nFor the new player experience, look no further than a Tatyova, Benthic Druid. This is a budget landfall deck priced at $100 (at time of posting), which gives new players an affordable, but strong, deck. With new players, budget needs to matter because it’s a serious consideration for someone starting paper magic who may not be able to or may not want to proxy. With new players in mind, the deck is built to avoid two situations that ruin fun: running out of gas and getting land-starved. Tatyova encourages both draw and ramp, so there should be very few games where we aren’t doing something with our cards. \n\nTo prevent running out of gas, we have lots of draw through Tatyova triggers as well as a standard amount of draw support, some of which also doubles as ramp. Speaking of ramp, we play 21 pieces (categorized as Ramp and Land support), to help maintain steam and make landfall triggers. Landfall forces players to pay attention to card triggers without getting overwhelmed by different timings, by simply playing the game as they normally would. Players will also get introduced to tokens with this specific landfall package, as we are trying to make a lot of them if we can get a bunch of land triggers going. This can also be a win con on its own with cards like Avenger of Zendikar and Rampaging Baloths, but if not, we have Overrun and Overwhelming Stampede to help break through battlecruiser boards with our other token cards (Scute Swarm, Zendikar’s Roil, etc.). \n\nThe deck is, ultimately, simple to pilot (draw, ramp, trigger value), but there are enough advanced strategies and decisions that can be made for a new player to grow into. For example, it’s a challenge for a new player to see just how many landfall triggers they can get in one turn through cards that traditionally ramp, sacrifice to ramp, let you play additional lands per turn, bounce lands back to your hand, and tap to place lands in play. Meloku, Walking Atlas, and Quirion Ranger serve as a bar for learning how to do this because once the new player figures out how to bounce and play their own lands, the deck really takes off with landfall value. Another fun learning point of this deck is maximizing Scute Swarm and seeing just how fast and out of control it gets. New players especially love swinging wide and turning a bunch of stuff sideways… so let’s encourage it. \n\nWe play a good amount of removal to interact with the board, including a couple counter spells so the new player needs to think about timing without really stressing about it, as well as Aetherize, Displacement Wave, Flood of Tears, and Perplexing Test to clean up the board while still leaving us with some field presence. Perplexing Test can also just win the game on the spot if your board has enough tokens out when you play it. And more on mechanics - we have some graveyard interaction with Ramunap Excavator, Eternal Witness, and Oracle of Mul Daya, which teaches them to use and re-use their resources. \n\nFinally, I want to return to the budget. I want my friends to keep playing for the long haul, but they may not get bit by the MTG or EDH bug the same way I did. I do not want them playing or buying $500+ or $1000+ decks unless they’re in this for the long haul. This deck started as an Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Straight deck… until I remembered the card was $37+, which is a hard sell to a brand new player. New players also need a deck that has obvious upgrades so they can learn when and how to improve their deck. Notice I’m not playing Nature’s Lore or Three Visits? Slightly over budget, but they’re also obvious and easy ways to improve this deck. Managing a budget is, for better or worse, part of the MTG experience and is a learned skill like anything else in this game. \n"}]}

For example, Koth serves as an introduction to planeswalkers, Temur Battle Rage shows how to use potentially game-winning combat tricks, and Dragon Breath introduces graveyard recursion and the need for the player to keep in mind other abilities other than the one present on board and on the battlefield.\n\nThe deck is very budget friendly and performs well with any pod that's board-centric and doesn't heavily relies in interactions, and is open to upgrades once the game is fully understood.\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"Okaun, Eye of Chaos and Zndrsplt, Eye of Wisdom\n\nThis is the second deck that I have made personally and it probably is still my favorite, it mixes card draw with fling spells to win. \n\nthere are two ways to really win with this deck and that is to either draw cards with Zndrsplt to draw into win cons, or pump Okaun into a lethal swinger to either kill with combat damage or fling spells to decimate opponents. \n\nThis deck however is very luck based with its coin flip mechanic oriented approach. This just brings a new level fun to this deck with one game winning by a landslide or fizzling out. If it works out it focuses on generating value off coin flip, playing chaos cards, copying value engines. leading to an unpredictable and fun way to play magic.\n\nOverall, my experience with this deck is only fond and I hope that you can enjoy this deck as I have \n\nhttps://archidekt.com/decks/8051592/coin_flip\n\n"}]}

Personally I always recommend green to be considered here just for the ramp, being mana-screwed is frustrating even for players with years of experience, imagine how not even being able to start playing the game feels like when you are new. No more than two colors means color-fixing is an easier task, in +3-color decks struggling to find a way to get mana of the color that you need to even start doing stuff is both frustating and overwhelming, a new player wants to have fun trying something new, not a 4D chess match."},{"insert":"\n\n"},{"attributes":{"background":"oklab(0.321088 -0.000220731 -0.00934622)","color":"oklab(0.899401 -0.00192499 -0.00481987)"},"insert":"I choosed Jasmine, Boreal of the Seven as the Commander because it is a cheap creature to cast, it is a Selesnya Commander and she does something straight forward: help you to play creatures and then those creatures goes BONK. Zada as a commander is incredibly budget friendly, powerful and teaches players a lot about the game of magic from threat assessment to sequencing. Plus it’s a mono colored deck which basically gets rid of mana fixing which is just one less thing for a new player to have to worry about. Overall I think this deck is simple, powerful, and fun all things needed in a deck for a new player.\n"}]}
