It's very easy to pilot but at the same time offers a playstyle centered around tokens and lifegain. My approach was to build a deck with inexpensive cards that can still get the job done. Lifegain and tokens are the key to drawing cards through creatures or artifacts that give us card advantage. The main win condition is to amass an army of tokens that can overwhelm opponents while also helping us survive thanks to Linden's ability. We also have a good amount of board control that allows us to wipe the board while keeping our tokens intact. The simplicity and low cost are what drove me to build the deck this way, as a new player is usually very mindful of how much they spend on individual cards.\n\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7701055/litter_box\n\nI call this deck Litter Box\n\nIts my first attempt at making a simple deck for MTG, basically littering the field with +1/+1 counters. I'm relatively new to the game and I've made a couple other decks before this one, but this was my first non-complicated one, at least for me, that was for purely causal play. I feel its a great starter deck for new players because it keeps the mechanics limited but also introducing more complex ones in short bursts. Because of that, I chose a commander that I felt had easy to understand text and rules and made it easy to play on your turn, as well as adding in protection from all the chaos that could happen. It also has built in card draw to help with hand development and keeping the game fun and introducing a quasi tribal feel.\n\nI follow that up with some support cards to continue the theme of protecting the player and their board while also boosting their creatures. I have anthems and boost that focus on just +1/+1s with other cards that have benefits from counters that I hope are easy to understand. My removal spells are kept to straightforward concepts. To help with experience there is a good boost in ramp spells to help get cards moving. Then I've added in a simple 'finisher' creature that cheats in from the counters in play and acts as a big stompy. I feel it flows well and is easy to understand as a deck but I hope other people feel the same way. Enjoy!\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"Aragorn deck with introduction to commander deckbuilding, staples and mechanics\n\nhttps://www.archidekt.com/decks/8721110/aragorn_your_guide_to_commander_wilderness\n\nThis Aragorn deck is great for new players, especially ones that are good learners and interested in learning the game and playing independently, not just participating in a friend group. Aragorn, King of Gondor provides card draw in command zone, making the deck more consistent. Lifelink, vigilance and monarch in play make finding attacks each turn interesting minigame. Deck has many combat interactions in MDFC lands including cards that punish opponents for greedy blocks and cards that make opponents not block. This includes some less common card choices, like Beyeen Veil and Razorgrass Ambush. In defence Aragorn deters enemy attacks and in a lower power budget deck that often means that you will survive long and have high life total.\n\nDeck is low-to-medium budget and can be built under 100$. Deck includes many staples (StoP, PtE, Blasphemous act, Vanquish the horde, Arcane Denial, MDFC lands, Loran, Signets, Talismans, Budget dual lands etc.) and cards that are close to all time low prices (Combat Celebrant, Gisela, Laelia, Scourge of the throne, Caduceus, Strix serenade) . Many cards can be used in other decks and sell value will likely be higher than buy value making often so expensive hobby less expensive to begin. Also the power level of individual cards is high improving deck strength, while it is not streamlined. \n\nDeck will provide good deck building guideline with high number of ramp, removal and draw including graveyard removal. Deck has some protection effects, potential commander damage wins, blink effects and graveyard recursion inspiring new player for potential streamlining options. Deck has extra combats and damage boost effects as its win condition. \n\nDeck will have interaction in form of cards, but also politics. Lifegain payoffs like The Gaffer, Gwaihin and Drogskol Reaver can be activated multiple times in turn cycle if opponent attacks you and allows Aragorn to get lifegain effect if table is digging for answers against one big threat. Aragorn is good at making opponents not attack you. My experience with similar style deck is that fliers are often chipping away your life total as they are able to attack through Aragorn. For that reason deck plays many fliers over similar non-fliers as threats. Threats in this deck are not tempting removal targets as they are generally not scariest thing on board.\n"}]}

Well I sure do! This deck is straightforward and full of fun cards—I've named it my HANGRY deck. The strategy is simple: generate a ton of goblin tokens, then use the devour mechanic on your dragons to EAT those goblins, creating massive, stompy dragon creatures! Plus, it's budget-friendly. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do!. :)\n\nReminder: ”Devour 2 (As this enters, you may sacrifice any number of creatures. This creature enters with twice that many +1/+1 counters on it.)”\n"}]}

Just like learning the basics step by step, this deck focuses on sequencing to execute a truly unique strategy. Not only will a normal game of Commander showcase a lot of the same keywords within thousands of decks, but to learn what most consider to be the least utilized will provide an experience that wouldn't be had otherwise. It also teaches how to differentiate power and toughness when it comes to assigning combat damage, and the theme of the deck is strongly felt through every card.\n\nRun rampant with big trees, pair them with a camel, attack a battle, and accrue substantial value over time. It seems odd, I know, teaching someone how to attack with banding, but it will show a new player how to use their attackers more wisely. Who to attack with, when to attack, when to NOT attack are often common questions for new players. This deck is one that will teach interaction at sorcery speed, allowing the new player to better wrap their head around the process of a turn within the game. In my opinion, it's most important to learn how to play your deck before to start spell-slinging at everyone else's. \n"}]}

With plenty of protection and a mana fixed land base, this deck can be sleeved up and played with ease!\n"}]}

Here is a breakdown of the thinking behind the deck and why it is a good starter deck (and deck in general):\n\nTheme: Legends! Shanid gives you card draw and evasion so, acts as the lynch pin of the deck by turning on the win condition of combat damage. I have tried to make each inclusion have a clear reason for being there. The only real breaks from the theme are ramp and removal but they do have some synergies throughout the deck. There is a graveyard sub-theme which fits an on-board strategy and fits the colour combination well.\n\nGame plan: The deck is full of various kinds of Legend lords and buffs that snowball into an inexorable board state and win by attacking. I have also included a few board wipes that are either one-sided or leave a singular creature on everyone's board which is great for your Menace commander and the graveyard sub-theme.\n\nRamp and Card Draw: The ramp is pretty straightforward mana rocks but Sword of the Animist, Relic of Legends, and Honour Worn are spicy inclusions! The card draw largely relies on Shanid but has a few other cute ways to draw/filter like. I would say the main source of card advantage is in recursion though.\n\nBudget and Upgrades: I have tried very hard to keep the cost of the deck below $100 but have put some less budget upgrades into the Maybeboard - mostly expensive legendary lands that are really fantastic because they are free draws.\n\nLearning and Complexity: Beyond finding how all the lords and buffs compound, I think Shanid is a great commander to learn about how to manage your major resources. Firstly, taking damage to draw is a great intro into how life is one of those resources to be used. Secondly, there are some really interesting graveyard interactions between cards like Teshar/Ratadrabik and the cards that self-sacrifice or sacrifice (Jirina/Boromir and Gollum/Ayli/Bartolome) that will highlight the graveyard as a resource.\n\nAnyway! Pick me!\nChris.\n"}]}
