There is only one creature in the entire deck, and it is Astral Dragon.\n\nThe Lore:\nIt was the winter of 2022. I was at the gym and felt the urge to create a new deck. Brother’s War had just come out and was an obvious place to start, but none of the new legends managed to grab my attention. So, I took a look back and reviewed my other options.\nI’m a blue mage at heart, but I wanted to branch out and try to build something I hadn’t before. I looked at Rakdos, Selesnya, Mardu, and others, but I never found a commander that truly captivated my attention. Then I looked at WUBRG. Again, not all of the options interested me, but one of the ones that did was Esika, or more specifically, the Prismatic Bridge. After all, this deck could be anything, and had a fun commander that ensured every game would be different. Ironic, in retrospect.\nI opened the EDHRec page for the bridge, but most of the recommendations were generalist, as is the nature of the commander. So, I took a look at some of the decks others had made. Most were what you’d expect, but one in particular intrigued me. The description showed 97 lands, 1 creature, and 1 instant. Obviously I had to know what they were, so I opened the list to reveal a Cultivator Colossus and a Comet Storm. Hilarious, but after initially dismissing it, I took a moment to actually consider: what if I also built a deck like this? One that also contained only a single creature, ensuring I hit it every time (and one that ideally also didn’t get boring to play after one or two times)? I decided, why not at least look and see what creature could possibly fulfill this role. I inputted a few filters onto the advanced search of Scryfall and hit search, and there it was, one of the first results: Astral Dragon\nAstral Dragon was my favorite card from Battle for Baldur’s Gate. Like I said, I’m a blue mage at heart and I love copying. And so it always pained me that I didn’t have a deck to put it in (where it wouldn’t be more than a pet card). The moment I saw Astral Dragon on those search results, I knew immediately that this would be my next deck.\nBuilding the deck itself was more of a challenge than I anticipated. I didn’t want to just throw a joke deck together for a cheap laugh. I wanted something real. I started with a fairly standard land and ramp base, but I didn’t want to just throw in a bunch of staples and call it a day. I thought about what the deck would do, put Astral Dragon onto the field and make a bunch of copies, and the special requirements it had, namely protection. So, I looked to my interaction to synergize with these. Both Chaos Warp and Oblation serve as both removal spells and protection for Astral Dragon, and cards like Oblivion Ring I could copy and remove a bunch of stuff. It was at this point I realized Astral Dragon goes infinite with Oblivion Ring and many other cards like it and reigned them in, leaving only Touch the Spirit Realm and Journey to Nowhere still in the deck. As for card draw and win cons, I looked to cards that both synergize with dragons and stack multiplicatively. Cards like Kindred Discovery and Dragon Tempest, two of the best cards in the deck. Throw in some blink, shuffling, and graveyard “recursion”, and I had a clean list of 100 cards. With my deck complete and proxies, I waited for game night and went down to show my pod my newest creation.\nI knew the deck would be decent, but I had no idea what it was capable of. I’ll list some of the deck’s highlights in the gameplay section below, but suffice to say, it is extremely effective and a ton of fun to pilot. I expected to eventually get bored of this gimmick deck and move on, but to this day it is still part of my usual deck rotation. A particular guilty pleasure of mine is to pull out my “dragon tribal” deck against people new to our pod and watch as they slowly realize there is only a single creature in the deck\nIf you made it this far, thanks for reading! I hope this deckbuilding journey was at least entertaining if nothing else.\n\nHighlights:\nDealt hundreds of damage to the table with Dragon tempest\nCopied Crucible of Fire a single time with Astral dragon and had 37 hasty power in the sky on turn 5\nUsed proteus staff to STACK MY ENTIRE DECK (and then promptly shuffled it next turn since Prismatic Bridge is not a may trigger)\nAsked people “how much do you want to pay?” as they look at my 7 rhystic studies\nUsed Kindred Discovery to deck myself for the moral victory\n\nAgain, thanks for reading! Also, if you have any suggestions please let me know. A card I’ve been considering myself is Song of the Worldsoul, but I’m having trouble finding a cut\n"}]}

You can do this with cards like Stormtide Leviathan or Quicksilver Fountain but they are either too expensive or too slow. Instead we will use Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth or Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth which make all lands Forest or Swamps. With a card like Mine Bend, we can change the Forest/Swamp text permanently to Island so they make all lands Islands instead. With this in play, all of our lands will tap for an additional blue under High Tide, making our mana production levels insane.\n\nThere are some ways to get High Tide back from the graveyard to either cast again on the same turn (as the effect stacks) or on another turn with cards like the classic Eternal Witness. Riftsweeper can get the card back from exile should someone cause that to happen. The best repeatability is with Isochron Specter, making it so we can High Tide every turn.\n\nDoubling Cube and Nyxbloom Ancient allow us to make even crazier amounts of mana when we High Tide to allow for even crazier turns. Along with extra land drops like Azusa, Lost but Seeking we can keep the mana coming. Magus of the Candelabra let's us retap our 2 mana producing lands to let them produce effectively 3 mana.\n\nVarious ways to search for High Tide are included as well as for Yavimaya and Urborg since those are important to make High Tide optimal. Obviously Mystical tutor and Spellseeker are some of the best tutors for High Tide but others like Mystical Teachings are extra good as it can not only get High Tide but also Mind Bend effects need to make Yavimaya give us all Islands.\n\nFinally we have the pay offs for all this mana. Our commanders Thrasios and Tevesh Szat are very useful for drawing us cards to find these pay offs but they won't win us the game. The pay offs we want are ones like Torment of Hailfire or Walking Ballista as those can deal massive amounts of damage to our opponents. While those are some of the best, we have others if those can't be found. Helix Pinnacle is a classic alternate win condition that can be done over many turn or all at once. Pest Infection is great for making a massive army as well as clearing the board of artifacts and enchantments.\n\nHigh Tide is a great card and while normally it's limited to mono blue, with some tricky spells and lands you can make it work for basically any color.\n"}]}

Hence, I've put in several Rule of Law style effects, not normally available to Gruul colors. \n\nI also run several flash enablers to best take advantage of the spell limitations, once again hoping to keep an endless night. \n\nAs far as win conditions, it's a fairly straightforward werewolves deck that wins through combat\n"}]}
