I built it as azoirious blink, since the commander can draw a lot of cards when blinked and it's easy to stack the board with cheap creatures that have high toughness. Then we can hold up mana on each rotation to either interact with our opponents or bounce the commander to start our turn with a huge grip of cards. The deck can play pretty defensively and reactionary, but it also builds up a board presence and can threaten damage on the board pretty easily as well. So far in my experience I think it could do a better job of both if there was more vigilance--so in my first edit of the deck I will probably focus on adding more low cmc creatures with vigilance. I'm not sure why, but in the first roll out of Archidekt's auto power level tool the system has decided this deck is a 4; the deck is certainly not a 4, and is more likely somewhere in the 3 range. \n\n\tThe deck can lean into the storm vibe a little bit if you get up to having a lot of mana; with 5 or more big toughness creatures out you can start to string together blink spells and draw out most of your deck in search of the win conditions. Often we will instead just bide our time a bit more and try to fly under the radar until we have no max hand size from "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Reliquary Tower"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Triskaidekaphile"}},{"insert":", or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Thought Vessel"}},{"insert":". Then we can really start going in on drawing cards and trying to widen the board while holding up all the interaction we stockpile. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive"}},{"insert":" can win on her own if you have the mana to activate Plagon's final ability; she does work much better with either "},{"insert":{"card-link":"High Alert"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rasaad yn Bashir"}},{"insert":", or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Baldin, Century Herdmaster"}},{"insert":" however. Baldin is of course the main win condition: if you untap with him and either have a huge hand already or can blink the commander a few times to fill up your grip then your creatures are getting a sort of pseudo-"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Craterhoof Behemoth"}},{"insert":" effect. Combined with Tetsuko Umezawa it should be game over, especially if you have some counterspells to protect yourself as you swing out. It's worth noting the power of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Springjack Shepherd"}},{"insert":": bouncing this little guy while you have some decent devotion to white can be insane and explode your board with 0/1 goats that your commander will count for drawing cards when you blink him next. I've gotten out 10+ goats before pretty easily and then your commander is drawing 15 cards a blink and it's game over pretty quickly after that when you can stick Baldin and Tetsuko Umezawa while holding up all of the counter magic in your deck. \n\n\tI already have some ideas for updating this, and I'll add the first edit below. There are a few new cards to add from Aetherdrift, and the deck will always benefit from better big butt creatures and more efficient or flexible blink options. It's also worth noting that while I put Triskaidekaphile in the \"Win Conditions\" category it really won't usually be able to perform that function. We are often drawing far too many cards in one go to make it happen; however, there will be certain board states where you may be able to go for it! Most games it will simply serve as a no max hand size card that also has the stats we want for Plagon to draw cards. I'll mention here that "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tolaria West"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Urza's Cave"}},{"insert":" are both in this deck just to grab "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Reliquary Tower"}},{"insert":" since no max hand size is pretty essential and these are free to slot in. \n\n\tIt would be totally on theme here to run "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Thassa's Oracle"}},{"insert":" in many ways: she's a merfolk, so she fits the beach theme; she has higher toughness than power; she has an ETB effect that could be useful when blinking; and the deck can absolutely draw itself out letting her help you win on the spot. However, for the last reason, I am choosing not to run her. My "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Sidisi, Brood Tyrant"}},{"insert":" deck sees so much hate as soon as it comes out of the box because of that one card, and this is meant to be a fun and less-optimized pile. Run her at your own risk! \n\nEdit 01: Removing "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Wall of Kelp"}},{"insert":" because it is too mana intensive and the double blue pips are rough. It was thematic, but that's ok. Also removing "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Mesmerizing Benthid"}},{"insert":" because it simply costs too much and we want more big butt creatures that hit the board before our commander. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Gilded Scuttler"}},{"insert":" is also getting the axe; while beautifully on theme and a solid card (the unblockable is great with Baldin out), being at 3cmc just hurts him a bit and we would prefer a 2cmc option. I'm putting in "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Maned Serval"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Caelorna, Coral Tyrant"}},{"insert":", and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Hermitic Nautilus"}},{"insert":". \n\nI'm tempted to cut "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Thassa, Deep-Dwelling"}},{"insert":" as well simply because she doesn't have the stats we want, however her ability basically reads \"draw 5 cards on end step for free\" most of the time so she'll hang in there for now. I also have my eye on adding in "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Shrike Force"}},{"insert":" because that vigilance and 6 attack after activating Plagon is pretty sweet, as well as the new "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Riptide Gearhulk"}},{"insert":" where the prowess + double strike combo is also very nice when dealing damage based on toughness. \n"}]}
