Once I pay a bunch of life for multiple creatures to be slapped onto the board and give everything a ridiculous number of+1/+1 counters, Hamza helps ensure that all green creatures are free besides the life payment. I can then swing and eliminate the most threatening person at the table (or perhaps the entire table depending on what stage of the game we're at).\n"}]}

I have had my Bring to light exiled before by opponents in several games once they saw what I was doing with the Bring to light. Paying 5 mana for a tutor that casts for free is pretty scary especially when you are able to loop it. The game plan is to get as many of these onto the battlefield before activating Mordenkainen's ultimate, exchanging your hand with your library, then swinging out with a board of 60/60s (or how ever many cards you have in your library).\n\nTo get Mordenkainen out quick, there are a handful of planeswalker specific tutors and draw spells, as well as a number of superfriends staples to help get to the ultimate faster. There are 11 other planeswalkers who also benefit from these cards and provide lots of utility, including ramp, adds loyalty counters, and draws cards. My favorite of these is Garruk, Primal Hunter, whose -3 ability can double the amount of cards in your hand. Rounding out the deck are ramp, removal and 3 cards that gain you life equal to the number of cards in hand.\n\nSome alternate win-cons/gameplans: If you lose Mordenkainen or are having trouble getting to his ult, Enter the Infinite draws all but 1 card in your library, a great last ditch effort. Jace, Wielder of Mysteries can help prevent decking yourself out. Marina Vendrell's Grimoire ties your life total directly to your hand size, preventing you from losing the game to damage. Lastly, Twenty-Toed Toad can outright win you the game if it attacks when you have 20 or more cards in hand.\n\nAnother build for this deck would have Atraxa, Praetors' Voice in the command zone, for the proliferate and access to black, letting us play cards like Carth the Lion and Vraska, Betrayal's Sting. I personally prefer Mr Foxglove for the ability to cheat out the big creatures and draw some extra cards in the early game. If you want to power up the deck, I would cut some of the lifegain cards or the lower powered */* spells. Potential upgrades I would look at are Sea Gate Restoration and Ancient Silver Dragon.\n"}]}

At first, the deck might look to the opponents like a regular landfall Chulane deck with some artifact synergies, but every single aspect of the deck, from strategies to combinations was designed with one purpose: to put permanents into play for Altar.\n\nThe first step of the plan is to get access to our hidden commander. The deck has multiple ways to access Altar of the Brood directly or indirectely. The simplest way to access the hidden commander is using one of the multiple artifact tutors in the deck. If by some disaster the player didn't get any of the tutors, any of the creature tutors can access the Altar by going through "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Trinket Mage"}},{"insert":" or through creatures that search lands. The most common ways are simply playing the permanents, with extra triggers from fetching lands and landfall triggers creating tokens. The deck plays multiple token producers triggered by landfall in the attempt to trigger the altar multiple times per land, and possibly multiple lands per turn. The deck can also play the lands from graveyard in order to recur value or simply cause more triggers, or return lands from grave to field.\nThen, Chulane's effect helps keep the cards going and the permanents entering the battlefield. The massive amount of ramp in the deck can unlock the big payoffs that can cause an array of triggers at once such as "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Avenger of Zendikar"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Scapeshift"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Field of the Dead"}},{"insert":" . {"ops":[{"insert":"Now, Death's Shadow is not very good in commander. In other formats, starting at 20 life means you only need to lose 8 to have DS stay alive. In commander, that number jumps up to 28 life to have the card be a measly 1/1. So I figured, why not build a deck around it? Beyond it being a fun challenge, with a name like Death's Shadow, it's perfect for spooky season!\n\nI identified 4 main problems with building a deck around Death's Shadow:\nLosing enough life for Death's Shadow to be viable"},{"attributes":{"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Accessing Death's Shadow"},{"attributes":{"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Turning Death's Shadow into a game win"},{"attributes":{"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Not dying to my own life loss"},{"attributes":{"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\n"},{"attributes":{"link":"https://www.archidekt.com/decks/9488319/hidden_commander_deaths_shadow"},"insert":"https://www.archidekt.com/decks/9488319/hidden_commander_deaths_shadow"},{"insert":"\n\nThe deck runs Selenia, Dark Angel as the face commander. With an activated ability that lets you pay life, suddenly losing 28 doesn't sound so hard. The deck is loaded with a plethora of other methods to pay life, such as K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth and Bolas' Citadel. \n\nBut how do you get Death's Shadow in hand? That's why I included a number of ways to tutor for cards, such as Razaketh, the Foulblooded and Vampiric Tutor. Additionally, powerful draw effects such as Vilis, Broker of Blood and Necropotence allow you to churn through your deck quickly.\n\nDeath's Shadow also has the distinct weakness of only being big. So, I included a small but potent equipment package (that can also be tutored for in the event that you already have access to Shadow). This package includes Vorpal Sword and Grafted Exoskeleton to try to one-shot opponents, as well as cards like Swiftfoot Boots, Whispersilk Cloak, and Lightning Greaves to protect the Shadow. Beyond just swinging with Death's Shadow, wins can also come from a variety of effects that allow you to switch life totals with your opponents, giving them your near-zero life total.\n\nThe final piece of the puzzle was figuring out a way to not die to the massive amounts of life loss that I want. Pact Weapon was my first choice, as it buffs Shadow, prevents game loss, and costs life. Other effects include Platinum Angel and Lich's Mastery.\n\nAll in all, the deck seeks to speedily reduce its life total, cast Death's Shadow (or the somewhat similar Scourge of the Skyclaves) and use that to reduce your opponents' life totals through combat. \n\n\n"}]}

Dubbed \"Karma's a Beach\" (you can imagine the alternative name), the general goal is to search out Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and utilize the various Swamp punish cards within the Bant colors. I thought the idea of a Bant burn deck would be really funny to brew...and it works (in casual pods)! Rafiq is my Bant commander of choice, because of the payoff for hit-draw triggers, as well as making Angry Mob and Crusading Knight incredible lethal creatures when your opponents have a lot of lands on board. Admittedly, I also picked Rafiq because he was the first commander I ever built...so I am capitalizing on nostalgia, too.\n\nNow while Karma and Stern Judge also damage us, you may be wondering how we circumvent that. Well, it turns out there exists an enchantment called Roots of Life, which causes us to gain 1 life whenever an opponent taps a Swamp (or Island, but we don't plan on picking Island for that mode). Alternatively, I also added Lifetap, which is the Blue counterpart (triggers when a Forest is tapped), which is maximized when we have Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth in play. These make it so that we are unlikely to die to our reciprocal burn.\n\nNow the ultimate flavor. I've done this twice, but in the situation where everyone is low on health and you can cast Karma to kill the table in a rotation, you must hold priority and say, \"Karma's a Beach!\" Then pass the turn and watch as the table dies to upkeep triggers.\n\nNOTE: I don't know how to make individual cards visible by hovering over them with the mouse cursor, so if someone lets me know, I will happily update this thread, respectfully.\n"}]}

Tuvasa fits well into this archetype because she cares about enchantments, growing stronger as you cast more of them, but she won’t be the primary win condition—Sigil of the Empty Throne is. Tuvasa acts as a solid support for the deck by being a card advantage engine while scaling with the number of enchantments in play.
