{"ops":[{"insert":"Once upon a time, I impulse purchased 3 M19 Core decks at a gaming convention and my friend showed me commander, buying me Wyleth Soul of Steel's precon as a birthday present. I enjoyed learning the interesting and deep game of Magic for a bit and then it went to the ADHD hobby graveyard for 4 years. Then in the middle of 2023 I got diagnosed with cancer, and during treatment I was stuck inside in the middle of summer unable to have more than one or two people over at a time. This is where I found the Command Zone and their popular show Game Knights. I binged dozens of episodes, enjoying the interesting lines, crazy top decks and high production value on display. From there I found more creators, Prof, Spikes, CGB and Kibler (who was always a Hearthstone streamer in my mind!). Safe to say I consumed more magic content in that span of treatment than most might do in a whole year and when I found out two of my friends still played, we got together and slung spells in my first game with more than two players (it was only three players but y'know, beggars and choosers). After clutching out playing Blazing Sunsteel and shooting my opponents Gishath in the face repeatedly and later finding out that Blazing Sunsteel, in fact doesnt work the way we were playing it I got interested in the deeper rules, how the game worked, what interactions were possible, when were they possible and why did it work the way it did. The final nail in the coffin was the Doctor Who Commander Precons. As a Whovian (new series only, sorry!) this came at the perfect time, allowing me to combine my burgeoning lust for Magic with a warm fuzzy comfort show. I picked up Ten's and Davros' precons and thoroughly enjoyed playing both (they are awful beginner products, but at this point I had a good idea of what was going on. We still misplayed Davros for three months before realising you only make one dalek, not one per villainous choice triggered..) From there I played more and more, built my own decks, invested in new sets and cards, got a reputation for a high control style of play against my pod (they're mostly Timmies, and I am a sucker for being a heel and trying single-handedly face down a hoard of Dinosaurs, Karnstructs or Elves) and the rest is history.\n\nNow, I love deckbuilding and refining and trying to broaden my horizons, branching into colour combos I don't usually play, play styles I usually ignore, constantly trying to find weird ways to play cards that differentiate from the norm, but still at my heart - Blue, White and a little Red make the core of all my beloved decks and I strive to make them the best they can be, without just dropping my life savings on OG duals, Cyc rifts or T-pros. \n\nAs always, \n\nDon't forget to love each other <3\n"}]}
